Most people loves being applauded for a good job done and so do writers.it is my pleasure to talk about plagiarism, and how to avoid it .

What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work or ideas as your own, with or without their consent, by incorporating it into your work without full acknowledgement. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition. Plagiarism may be intentional or reckless, or unintentional. Under the regulations for examinations, intentional or reckless plagiarism is a disciplinary offences.In reference to www.ox.ac.uk.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

Mosaic plagiarism:

In this type of plagiarism, each word is not copied but it involves mixing ones own words in someone else's ideas and opinions.
Plagiarism is derived from a Latin aword “plagiarius” which means “kidnapper,”. The word plagiarism entered the Oxford English dictionary in 1621.

Verbatim plagiarism:

This a situation where someone presents someone else's words verbatim in his own name without referencing him publically. For instance,when u copy another person's work verbatim and paste it as if you wrote it.

Self plagiarism

This simply means someone duplicating and recycling of his or her past work and presenting it as a fresh work.i may call it self theft.

Accidental plagiarism.

This is a where someone paraphrases another person's work or publication without properly referencing the owner publicly

Cyber plagiarism:

This one i call it internet theft..it means copying of articles or work from the internet without citing the site or giving credit to the site

Image plagiarism:

This is making use of images,videoes or animations without proper permission and appropriate citation.

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

To avoid plagirism one must apply a good academic practice right from school days in which ever area of study.To avoid plagiarism we must make use our academic sense and skills.it is not just trying to convience your project supervisor but making your work count and valueable.
