Today I'm continuing with my Achievement 3 post (Content Etiquette).

Firstly

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

Plagiarism is the process of stealing an author's work, a way of claiming to be the owner of an author's work.
It can also be seen as the copying and pasting another person's posting without citing the source or giving credit to the author.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

We have;

  • Direct Plagiarism: As the name implies direct, it occurs when a writer copy's and paste an author's work without editing the content or citing the source or give credit to the author. This act is not accepted on steemit.

  • Accidental Plagiarism: This occurs when a user present a post that has already posted by another user unknowingly.

  • Remix Plagiarism: This is the act of copying different author's post, joing them together to form a new post without citing the source.

  • Hybrid Plagiarism: This occurs when the a user do not properly cite the source of a copied document.

HOW CAN YOU AVOID PLAGIARISM

There are several ways one can avoid plagiarism viz;

  • By citing the source of your document or pictures
  • Always use a Plagiarism checker tool to make sure your post is plagiarism free.
  • Make use of Paraphrasing tool.

PENALTY FOR PLAGIARISM

  • It reduces your reputation on steemit.
  • It attracts downvotes on one's post.
  • It attracts flagging of one votes.
  • It can lead to the muting of one's account from posting in a community.

CONCLUSION

Plagiarism is a very bad act, and it's highly prohibited on steemit. So I will advice each and everyone of us not to be involve act. I promise not to be involved in such act here on steemit.
