Hi there STEEMIT. I'm happy to move to my next achievement already. I'll be talking on plagiarism.

Self-plagiarism.jpgImage Source

Plagiarism is the use some else's material without their consent. That is, generally copying their work and pretending as though they wrote it, they don't acknowledge the writer of the information or material. Many kinds of material such as published and unpublished materials are under the canopy of this definition.
Cases of plagiarism have been noticed in journalism, speeches, motivational talks, academics, in steemit as well and many more.

WAYS IN WHICH PLAGIARISM IS PRACTICED

Self Plagiarism

Self Plagiarism in lay man language is just simply when a writer uses previous version of his own work without acknowledging the source.

Accidental Plagiarism

This often occurs when a person ignores, neglects or doesn’t make an effort to Cite their sources or the person intentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words, misquotes their sources. One of the main cause of accidental plagiarism either being disorganized or just being confused. For example not knowing or even understanding how to paraphrase or use quotations properly.

Direct Plagiarism

This kind of plagiarism involves word to word transcription, the plagiarist here dles not even input quotation marks or any other thing. Everything is copied and pasted just as it is. Sanction a d suspension are the penalties here especially in the case of academics

Mosaic Plagiarism

"This kind of plagiarism occurs when a student borrows words , statements or phrases from a source without assigning quotation marks on the borrowed words or finds related words or synonyms for the borrowed word while staying in line with the same structure as in the original.ready published work of the same author."

HOW CAN YOU AVOID PLAGIARISM?

  • Paraphrasing should be encouraged
  • Quotation marks should be used and the source of the information put as well.
  • Keep track of the sources which you consult in your research.
  • Show a sign of recognition or credit the original author in an intext citation and reference list
  • Use a plagiarism checker before you submit.
