Having said that, the security of the internet; online and offline applications is not exempted here and as such is very much encouraged as it even relates to the Steemit Platform accounts; it's to safeguard and secure the apps, sites, individual accounts etc from theft and hackers. Therefore, Steemit security is put in place to make people's steemit accounts secure and safe from third parties, theft and hackers.
Achievement 2 is the second level or part of the steemit newcomers' community and it is one of the most important parts of the steem community. This is because as a newcomer, it is through this part that I was made to understand the importance of the security measures in this steemit platform and how each of the keys functions and how they can help me in safeguarding and securing my account. Of course, through this second level of this platform as a newcomer, I was made to understand that any attempt to lose, expose or disclose my keys essepecially my master key, owner key or posting key to any third party or to the public is a very dangerous attempt to my steemit account as any one who is exposed to them or have access to the aforementioned keys can do away with either my account or its funds as such can make my efforts worthless and unrewarded. For this reason, I was made to understand that it's my utmost duty to keep these keys safe in a very secret place where no one can have access to.
Having read and understood this aspect at this juncture, I would like to answer the following questions as part of my achievement tasks in the newcomers' community.
QUESTION 1. Have you retrieved all your keys on steemit?
Yes, I have retrieved all my keys. I downloaded them into my PDF, my laptop, in my phone memo or note and also written them down as hard copy in case of phone loss, laptop and out of reach of my PDF.
QUESTION 2. Do you know each of these keys functions and restrictions?
Yes! Basically, there are five major keys. They are:
- Posting key
- Owner key
- Active key
- Master password key and
- Memo key.
Posting key: The function of this key is to log in to Steemit account. It's also used to perform an editting function of the steemit account. It can also be used to post, comment, vote, mute other persons' accounts. Posting key is also used to resteem. It's the key that is used for everyday log in of one's account, i. e when you're logged out of your steemit account and you want to log in, it's this posting key that would first enable you access to your account.
Owner key: This owner key is the most powerful key. This is because it is used to change or retrieve any key of an account including the owner key itself, i. e, it is used to reset all other keys of an account. This means that if one's account is lost and the owner has this owner key at his/her disposal, he/she can make use of this key to recover it. And the recovery of the compromised account can be done within 30 days through the steemit website. It can only be used to recover a compromised account.
Active key: This key is used to perform sensitive functions of an account. That is, it helps in monetary and wallet related activities of an account. This means that when you want to transfer your funds to another steemit user, it's this active key that would allow you perform such function. In addition to this function, the active key also allows you to power steem up and down. It can also be used to convert steem dollar to steem, placing of market orders, voting for witnesses as well as updating profile details and images of an account.
Master password key: The master password is also called the seed key. It is used to generate all keys for one's account including the owner key. This means that if someone gets access to the master password key just like for example, in the case of a house or a building structure when one gets to the parlour of the said and can also get to the other rooms of the building easily, so as one when have access to this master key can generate all other keys of the account through this master key. Therefore, it's advised that one should not share it with anyone else.
Memo key: Just as the name implies, the memo key is used to send private messages or memo to other STEEMIT users. That is to say that, if one wants to send a short message or memo to other user that the sender doesn't want the public to see it, he/she can use memo key to send it. In the same vein, the receiver too would also use his/her memo key to open it. Puts simply, the memo key is used in encrypting and decrypting short messages or memos when transferring funds.
QUESTION 3. How do you plan to keep your master password?
As has been stated earlier, I have already kept my master password including all the other keys in my laptop. I have also downloaded them into my PDF file as well as written them down in a secret hard copy where only me can have access to.
QUESTION 4. Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?
Yes! I can do this by using my active key which is used for accessing my wallet to sign in into my wallet and click on the arrow on steem, select transfer from the drop down arrow. Afterwards, I input the recipient's username on the colon provided, imput or set the amount of the steem I want to transfer then click on next and click on OK and then the steem would be transferred.

QUESTION 5. Do you know how to power up your steem?
Yes! Steem can be powered up to build up my steem power in my account. I can power up my steem in my account by first signing into the wallet with my active key.
Next I click on the arrow on steem and select power up, then I enter the amount I want to power up. After that I can now click on power up and finally click on OK then my steem would be powered up.

In conclusion, the Steemit security system is sincere one. I understand that I have to login with my posting key to my profile to be able to post, comment, vote and resteem. Also have to use active key to login to my wallet for transfer of steem, power up steem to steem power, and every other wallet activities. I now understand the functions of my master key, owner key and memo key.
