What is plagiarism❓

Plagiarism means using someone else's work or ideas as one's own, with or without permission. Simply put, if you associate someone else's work with yours without their consent, it will be considered plagiarism. Theft may be your intentional or unintentional. Yet it is plagiarism. It has no specificity. We must stay away from plagiarism all the time.

Types of Plagiarism

We see a variety of plagiarism , which are a serious violation of our academic integrity. If this continues, plagiarism will increase day by day in academic activities. We need to take legal action against this plagiarism. Now, I will define the most important type of plagiarism that should not be used on Steamite. They are-

  • Direct Plagiarism
  • Self Plagiarism
  • Mosaic Plagiarism
  • Accidental Plagiarism

Direct Plagiarism

Direct plagiarism means that if someone copies a piece of your content exactly without your permission, it will be termed as plagiarism. Direct theft is the most serious crime. Theft is an immoral act, so there are provisions for disciplinary action, including expulsion.

Self Plagiarism

Self-plagiarism means
If one uses one's work repeatedly in different places without any permission, that is self-plagiarism. An example to put it in simple language is Dicchi - Suppose If a student submits the same assignments in different classes without previous permission from the professors. It is called self plagiarism.

Mosaic Plagiarism

Mosaic plagiarism means if a person mixes another quote from another place without using quotation marks, that is, some part from one place and another part from another place thus completes the whole part, that is, maintains the original work structure. This work is called mosaic plagiarism. This is a punishable offense. Completion of academic work is prohibited.

Accidental Plagiarism

Accidental Plagiarism means that a person is researching something, so he may need a lot of things, he will be able to use the necessary things, but he will have to mention the source of those things. But if someone forgets to give that source then that work is called accidental plagiarism.
Everyone needs to learn how to cite their sources and be careful when researching. This is as unethical and punishable as any other plagiarism .

How to Avoid Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the use of someone else's thing or idea without permission. If one wants to use something else without stealing it, he must include the sources of the subject matter properly. Then it is only possible to escape from theft.
➽ 4 steps to avoid plagiarism:
1-Paraphrase from your sources & add your own ideas.
2-Keep the track of that sources which you consult in your research.
3-Credit the original creator with proper citation & reference list.
4-Before submission, must use a plagiarism checker.

How to add Cite a Source?

If we use things from any site we must give proper source. That could be a picture or a text.

Let's look at one example,

Here is Original Image Source

Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work. In educational contexts, there are differing definitions of plagiarism depending on the institution.Plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics. It is subject to sanctions such as penalties, suspension, expulsion from school[4] or work, substantial fines[6][7] and even imprisonment. This text copy from Wikipedia ←Source

Plagiarism is the most heinous act. On the other hand, is a punishable offense, so I think it is important to avoid plagiarism. We should all be aware of plagiarism.

Yes, I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community. I tried my best to describe it simply.
