Achievement 2 @systb Task : Basic Security on Steem

in hive-172186 •  25 days ago

When Alex joined the digital world of STEEM, it felt like stepping into a whole new adventure. On arrival, they were given a special set of keys—each with its own unique purpose. But like any tool, these keys weren’t helpful unless Alex learned how to use them properly.

Curious and determined, Alex decided to seek guidance from a wise Elder known for helping newcomers navigate this exciting world.

When Alex found the Elder, they were greeted with a warm smile.

“Welcome, young adventurer,” the Elder said. “Have you collected all your keys yet?”

“Yes, I have them all!” Alex replied proudly.

The Elder raised an eyebrow. “That’s good, but do you know what they do?”

Alex nodded and explained:

  • Posting Key: “I use this for my everyday tasks—posting content, logging in, commenting, and things like that.”
  • Active Key: “This one lets me access my wallet for things like transferring funds, powering up my STEEM, and updating my profile.”
  • Owner Key: “It’s my backup key in case of emergencies. It can change all my other keys, so I keep it offline and only use it if my account gets compromised.”
  • Master Key: “This one is the most important. It can generate all the other keys, so I guard it carefully. Losing it would mean losing my whole account!”
  • Memo Key: “This is for sending encrypted messages when I transfer funds.”

The Elder smiled approvingly. “That’s a good understanding. But let me remind you, especially about the Master Key—it’s the lifeline of your account. Never share it or let it fall into the wrong hands.”

The Elder leaned forward and asked, “So, how are you keeping your Master Key safe?”

“I’ve written it down on paper and stored it in a secure place,” Alex explained. “I’ve also backed it up on a USB drive, just in case.”

The Elder nodded. “That’s smart. Always keep a backup, and never store it in a place that’s easy to hack, like an online file.”

“Now, do you know how to use your wallet?” the Elder asked.

“Yes!” Alex said enthusiastically. “If I want to send STEEM to someone, I just go to my wallet, click on ‘Transfer,’ fill in the recipient’s ID, the amount, and hit send.”

“And powering up your STEEM?”

“That’s easy too,” Alex replied. “I just select ‘Power Up,’ enter the amount I want, and confirm it.”

The Elder smiled, clearly impressed. “You’re getting the hang of it. Mastering these tools will make your journey in STEEM much easier.”

With the Elder’s guidance, Alex felt ready to explore and thrive in the world of STEEM. The keys in their pocket weren’t just tools anymore—they were symbols of opportunity and responsibility.

From that moment on, Alex made sure to use their keys wisely, securing their account while unlocking new adventures.

Hi @systb, this task is no longer necessary; you have to be active in different communities, form new friendships, interact with fellow Steemians, upvote posts, and come back in a month to make your first progress report. Including the below points:

🥈 1st Progress Report
Please, don't use these points as a template - templates are so boring 🥱 - we're interested in hearing about your experience so far. You could use some of the following ideas as prompts...

A summary of the communities you've joined, why you've joined them, which you like the most and why.

The topics you've been writing about.

A list of key people you've interacted with. An introduction to the people who have had the biggest impact upon your experience so far (NOT an opportunity to tag whales) and the unexpected relationships that you've experienced.

Your most successful post - Why do you think it was successful?

Other observations - What have you learnt and discovered that you weren't expecting to.

Your plan and expectations for the next month on the platform (please don't mention growing your account!)

ohhh ok. so none of the achievement tasks beyond Achievement 1 are needed now for newcomers?

Instead, this is what newcomers follow to get involved on the platform?

thanks brother. Surely I will do that

Please remind me what happened to your previous profile?

Sorry but I never had any profile on this platform before. Which one are you referring to?

You tell me - only you know which one it is.

You're definitely not new. I know that for a fact.

Apologies. But I never created my profile on this platform before as I had issues creating it. This is the first instance I have created a profile on this platform.

Then why did you complete an "Achievement 2" instead of following the guide pinned to this community?

I was not aware of it while I posted that. I was referring to the following document https://steemit.com/hive-172186/@cryptokannon/achievement-1-mentor-by-cryptokannon-verification-through-introduction and referring to the section "List of Achievements for this Newcomer Achievement Program" I thought all tasks listed there till 6 have to be completed by newcomer and hence I posted that.

If I did that wrong, I accept that it was my bad. But frankly, I was too confused when I was new here and I am not sure where to start talking with people.

How did you find that post?

I can't recollect exactly now. But somewhere while exploring the platform for the initial task.
