Hello Steemians,
Plagiarism is an offence in steemit that entails copying and pasting another author's idea, image, expression and even videos without acknowledging the original author.
This is not just an offence but can be attributed to theft.
Plagiarism is a very serious offence in steemit and hence every user is encouraged to adhere to the simple rule of giving credit to its image source and idea source either by citation or acknowledgment.
There are different types of plagiarism but I will be explaining few in the list of
- Mosaic
- Direct
- Accidental
- Self plagiarism.
Mosaic plagiarism
This type of Plagiarism is not the same with direct because the author employs different techniques to convert the plagiarised content.
The author tends to change words and ideas in other to present the stolen idea as original.
Direct plagiarism
In this type of Plagiarism, the author lifts another's work verbatim. In other words, the author copies and pastes another's work without quotation.
Accidental plagiarism
This type of Plagiarism is done it of negligence as the author unintentionally lifts another's work without acknowledgement.
Self Plagiarism
This type of plagiarism is mostly committed by students in the education section.
This is frequented when students duplicate their work to different lecturers.
- By sourcing images and texts
- By citing the original author
- By using plagiarism checker tool.
