What exactly is ESports?

eSports is often referred to as e-Sports as well as e-games or electronic sports. They are competitively organized video gaming.
It is primarily about teams that compete against one another in tournaments in exchange for cash prizes. In essence, it's the same as traditional sports. The best athletes compete to be the best in their sport or the game of their preference. eSports is the term used to describe organized, competitive video gaming. Players from various leagues or teams play these same sports that have become loved by players who play at home: Fortnite, League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Call of Duty, Overwatch, and Madden NFL, to mention just a few. These gamers are watched followed by millions of people across the globe who are at live events or watch on television or via the internet. Services that stream like Twitch let viewers watch the action of their favorite players in real-time. This is usually where the most popular gamers develop their fanbases.

Although it can be for fans from traditional sporting leagues such as those of the NFL and the NBA, eSports, at its top levels, perform similarly. This month the NBA held a draw for the start of its brand new eSports league that is based around basketball, the theme of the NBA 2K game series. In the draft, the more than 102 professionally-trained eSports players were chosen, with all the pomp and ceremony usually reserved for basketball players playing on the court.

Esports Health and Addiction Concerns

While eSports and their potential to earn money from playing are both positive for the field, there are legitimate concerns that need to be considered.
To become the next eSports superstar involves playing for many hours every day, and studies on the adverse effects on your health and well-being when you spend many hours sitting in a dark space staring at a screen have proven conclusive. Faker, one of the biggest players in eSports, plays at least 12-15 hours per day, 12 hours a day. This is not good for your well-being.
A study conducted by Zwibel and co. to study the health effects imposed on players who play esports found that players are more likely to suffer injuries to their musculoskeletal system in their necks, backs as well as upper extremities. In addition, metabolic problems could result from the long hours spent on an electronic monitor. Many of these problems result from bad posture and sedentary habits that are typical for esports players.
Because esports is a sedentary game and the poor posture that comes with it, Esports players are more likely to suffer from musculoskeletal injuries to the back, neck, and upper extremities. Furthermore, they could be suffering from metabolic problems due to light-emitting diode monitors, as well as problems with mental health associated with gambling addiction and social problems. The authors investigate the role of the osteopathic doctor in encouraging health and reducing injury with this latest gaming phenomenon.
The announcement of college scholarships for eSports is another issue because teenagers are now able to justify their gaming habits by claiming they will become the next eSports superstar when in fact, the likelihood of this is extremely low.
It's fine to try to achieve a top level of competition; however, when kids use eSports as an excuse for their gaming habits, It can become problematic.
There's a vast distinction between a child playing 12 hours a day all by themselves and a controlled and structured team that has personal trainers, coaches, and advisors. That's what we have in the majority of colleges. It allows people to play in a setting that fosters a healthy connection to gaming and is essential to making sure that mental health issues are not a problem later in the future.
I'm not trying to dissuade a teenager or anyone else, in general, from not pursuing their goals. However, doing so in a manner that is informed about the requirements is crucial, and what it requires is not just playing all the time, every single day. It requires focus and determination as well as responsibility, maturity, and optimal health, physically as well as emotionally, in addition to other elements, such as luck.
If the race to be a professional player is a battle between millions of players competing in a race for hundreds of slots, having an alternate plan in case it fails to work out is highly advised.
