Good afternoon everyone, I hope you all are fine? I will be doing my Achievement 2:Basic Steemit Security. This Achievement 2 teachs us on how to best secure our steemit account. Remember never to share your pass keys with anyone.
Question 1 : Have you retrieved all your keys on steemit?
Answer : Yes and they are stored in safe locations.
Question 2: Do you know each of these keys functions and restrictions?
Answer : Yes I do.
I will write a little on each keys functions and restrictions below.
Master Key - This is used to to generate every other key and can be safely kept offline via a storage device like a harddisk.
Private Posting Key - This key is mainly used for logins, social activities on steemit, like posting, commenting ,edit, follow, upvote /downvote etc.
Memo Key - This key is majorly for tranfering , decoding and decrypting of memo sent with funds transfers.
Owner Key - This is used to reset your steemit password if the need arises .Should be kept very safe.
Private Active Key - This key is used for funds transfer, power ups /down, converting steem and also for witness voting. This key is also used to login to your wallet. Remember to keep it very safe.
Question 3: How do you plan to keep your master password?
Answer : I plan to store mine offline on my harddisk and also write it down on a paper , which I will also keep safely.
Question 4: Do you know how to transfer your steam token to another steem user account?
Answer : Yes, I do.
You click on Wallet and login with your Private Active Key,
Then you click on the dropbox next your steam balance and click transfer from the listed options
Next, you enter the name of the recipient, number of steem you wish to transfer and a memo if you desire and click next to confirm.
Question 5: Do you know how to power up your steam?
Answer : Yes, I do.
Click your wallet like when you wanted to transfer, login, click on the dropbox but this time select Power Up
Enter the number of steem you wish to power up and confirm. That's it
