What is Plagiarism
"Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work." Source
Plagiarism is a serious offense that is punishable by the law, it is otherwise seen as theft, piracy, stealing, poaching, appropriation, etc. In some countries, plagiarism is seen are a crime and it can attract serious punishment and it can equally lead one to imprisonment. So one may ask; “so can’t I use somebody else’s work and do something with it”? The answer is yes you can do it but it has to be in a proper way because almost everything we do has a set of rules covering it. So there is also a rule covering using someone else’s work.
Plagiarism on the other hand has to do with taking or copying someone else's work, it could a school project or research without giving credit to the original owner of the work. Nobody knows everything, we can equally learn from someone’s experience, research, writing, etc. but a reference or citation has to be made to the original source.
most times, some works, projects, experiments, etc. takes time, resources, money, and a whole lot of sacrifice before it finally comes to conclusion. So it will be an offense for anybody to be celebrating on another person’s sweat without giving a proper reference or credits to the original owner of the work. So like I mentioned earlier it is not wrong to use someone else’s work but a proper reference has to be made.
