Hello lovely reader,
I felt very down in the last year that I lived in the Netherlands. I was talking to different people I met within this year that were all telling me to go and pursue my goals. I decided to listen to them for a change. It was like something just clicked in my brain and I felt a strong urge to change my life for the better.
I started applying online for jobs in Scotland as that would be the place I would like to live. I started telling people I am going to move to Scotland and made it more like a fact than a thought or dream. I think that is extremely important and I probably did this even without realising but I knew my body and soul needed this to heal and feel better. Manifesting is very important to visualise yourself doing something and make it more a fact than a wishful thought.
It took me a couple of months and a few interviews until I randomly was chatting to my colleague in the hotel I worked at.
She said she knew someone as a general manager working in Scotland and was going to send him a text over Linkedin.
Within probably the next day or so I already got a text. The interview got arranged over a zoom meeting. And they invited me to come down to Killarney, Ireland for a proper interview.
So not Scotland after all!
I went down with a close friend and we spent 2 nights in Ireland. It was absolutely amazing. I had a feeling of getting home when I arrived in this town.
The people are so nice, friendly and extremely welcoming.
I got the job and flew back to the Netherlands. I had to stay working 1 more month for the company I was still working for and this gave me the time to mentally prepare my big move and to get everything packed.
On the 3rd of August 2016 I took my flight to Dublin, Ireland and started my new chapter.
It was scary and exciting, the first time I flew on my own and slept on my own. I rented a room in a house about half an hour walk from the centre,I felt totally out of place. It didn't feel like home. I only had my big suitcase with me and myself. I started to look for an apartment I could rent on my own and feel at home in. Within 6 days I found the place I still call home. A nice little apartment for myself which is a really close walk from town as well.
I was so lucky to have a good job as a Dutymanager in a local hotel and my own place to live. I didn't know anyone in this town and did feel quite lonely. I was so used to being surrounded by a big family and a lot of friends.
It was a different culture here, different language and I had to start making connections. Now I am a very easy going person and very social so this wasn't hard for me. But it did definitely take half a year before I started to build relationships.
I learned about the Irish culture and the people and it gave me a true feeling of belonging.
This is where I am supposed to be!
