Hello my fellow steemians. Today I'll be completing my Achievement 3 on the topic Plagiarism.
Meaning Of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of imitating or presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own without his or her consent. This act is wrong and we should also know that an author has the right to sue a plagiarist.
Plagiarism happens for a number of reasons and it is common within our environment, blogs, most especially in schools where students decide consciously to gain credit from the work of others.
Reasons Students Plagiarize
- Desire to get a good grade
- Lack of academic knowledge
- Fear of failing
- Lack of good academic writing skills
- Lack of preparation
- Laziness
Most people feel that they would not be able to put up a decent paper work without the intervention of other sources.
The Common Types of Plagiarism
- Deliberately plagiarism: this is the most common form of plagiarism and it is the act of attempting to pass off someone else's work as one's own. This Is a high level of offense because it was intentional and will possibly lead to a prison sentence.
- Mosaic plagiarism: this occurs when phrases are been taking from a source without using quotation marks, or finds synonyms for the author's language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning. This Plagiarism can also be called the patchwork plagiarism.
How To Avoid Plagiarism In Steemit
- Avoid "Copy-paste"
- Frequently use quotation marks
- Develop your own style
The best way of avoiding plagiarism is to learn and employ the principles of good academic and writing skills.
It's indeed an honour writing to you guys again.
