Hi great steemians.. hope you are doing great..
After I was done with achievement2 I proceeded to doing my achievement 3 which is has title of Content Etiquette.
Though we are just to talk about a sub-title of the main title which is Plagiarism. @cryptokannon had admonished us to carefully read through the whole Content Etiquette which am going to share the link at the end of this task..
I'll be writing this article based on the topic what is plagiarism.
Meaning of plagiarism.
From my understanding of plagiarism, this is the act of lifting someone's work which is not yours without appropriately giving reference to the person. And most of the time the people doing this do this with the mindset of giving credit to them selfs.
According to a definition from Wikipedia.
Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own source
The above fully referenced photo can add more explanation to the meaning of plagiarism.
How to Cite an Information
We need to understand that apart from on the steemit blockchain, any piece of information gotten by you or anyone and it's not yours must be fully referenced. This adds more respect and dignity to you and makes your work looks matured. Instead of allowing another reader to find out himself that the phrase or clause stated in your text is not yours, that is really demeaning for a standard author.
Am thankful to the steemit platform, it has really created a very good awareness against pplagiarism. You know we Humans we like the short cut and still taking credit for the short cut we have taken, instead of giving the owner the credit. Some times is a share ignorance on the part of the author, which this newcomers achievement3 seeks to eliminate that.
Example of Plagiarism and it's correction.
Plagiarism content.
Anger is a character of an individual were he or she flays up uncontrollable. It is further explained in Wikipedia thst; Anger, also known as wrath or rage, is an intense emotional state involving a strong uncomfortable and non-cooperative response to a perceived provocation, hurt or threat.
The above sentence contains only one original sentence which this;
Anger is a character of an individual were he or she flays up uncontrollable.
And also contains a non-original content;
Anger, also known as wrath or rage, is an intense emotional state involving a strong uncomfortable and non-cooperative response to a perceived provocation, hurt or threat.
which is not reference and that is an offence. So we reference that below in the correction.
Correction
There are two methods of representation of copied article. It either you use the ("") sign or the (>) sign and the you reference them both.
Using the ("") sign and referencing it accordingly.
"Anger, also known as wrath or rage, is an intense emotional state involving a strong uncomfortable and non-cooperative response to a perceived provocation, hurt or threat." Source
Using the > sign in front of the sentence and referencing it accordingly.
Anger, also known as wrath or rage, is an intense emotional state involving a strong uncomfortable and non-cooperative response to a perceived provocation, hurt or threat. Source
With the above I hope we have clearly understood the citation methods.
Also be sure to use images with copy right free source and make sure to reference them accordingly.
I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them" at the end of this task post.
