Mahatma Gandhi, named after Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (born October 2, 1869, Porbandar, India - died January 30, 1948, Delhi), Indian lawyer, politician, social activist, and author of the Nationalist Movement Against the British Became the leader of The rule of India thus made him considered the father of his country. Gandhi is credited with his ideology of non-violent protest (satyagraha) for the attainment of political and social progress at the international level.
In the eyes of millions of his fellow Indians, Gandhi was the Mahatma ("Great Soul"). The thoughtless worship of the huge crowd that had gathered to see him throughout his travels made him a severe test. He could hardly work during the day or rest at night. "The Mahatma's troubles," he wrote, "are known only to the Mahatmas." His fame spread throughout the world during his lifetime and only increased after his death. The name of Mahatma Gandhi is now one of the most recognizable names in the world.
