Achievement 2 @yawgaza Task: Basic security on steem

Personally, I've learnt that in this community, security is the most essential thing. Interestingly, keys or passwords generated by Steemit aren't ones that someone can easily memorise that is why every user is advised to keep his or her passwords very safe. Keys or passwords in Steemit have to be kept safe because password of any account that is misplaced cannot be retrieved.

The Master Password is the password generated by Steemit when you first sign up. It is used to generate the other passwords or keys. An account lost cannot be retrieved if the master password is misplaced.

The Owner Key is used to change every other key including the owner key itself. It is used for recovering a compromised account. This key should be kept really safe.

The Active Key is mostly used for financial aspects of steem. It is used to transfer funds, profile updates and powering up and down steem.

The Posting Key is used for posting contents, commenting, voting, following, deleting and editing. It is advisable to limit the rate of use of the posting key.

The Memo Key is used to see any encrypted messages sent and also to read or create memos.

Apart keeping a backup copy of my PDF containing the keys on my laptop and google account, I have also written my master password in a book and hidden it.

Personally I have not practiced how to transfer steem token to another steem user account but I have read about it and I know I'll practice it with time. In addition, I have also read about how to power up my STEEM.

The above screenshot is a display of the wallet. So you can decide to either Power up or Transfer steem token to another steem account. If you want to transfer steem token, choose the transfer to transfer steem token to another steem account.

Now you will have to enter the user name of the account you want to transfer the steem token to and the amount. Then you choose next to proceed.
