Achievement 2: Basic Security On Steem @yeeti

I'm super excited to have complete my achievement 1 yesterday, I will quickly move to achievement 2. In this achievement 2, I will be discussing on basic security keys on steemit. For it to possible to secure your steemit account, you need to be familiar with the basic security keys, their understanding their functions, the different types of security keys we have on steemit, the differences of those keys and their importance.

For the purpose of this achievement task, I'll arrange this post in line with the questions raised.

Have you retrieved all your keys in Steemit Steemit?

Yes, I retrieved and saved up all the keys for my Steemit account. It was not difficult to do since the keys come in a single PDF file. So I simply downloaded the file and preserved it.

Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?

Yes, security keys comprises of numbers and alphabets which leads to one thing or the other, for it to be possible to understand those keys, you need to have in mind that different keys serves different purposes.
The different keys we have include:

• Posting key
• Active key
• Owner key
• Memo key
• Master key

The posting keys help a person log into his/her steemit account, and the posting key can also be used for social-related activities. This social activities includes posting, upvoting etc on other people's content. This key can also be use to follow other people and comment on their post.

Active key is concern with the financial aspect of steemit, that is issues related with finance. Active key help you access your personal wallet, power up steems which will help turn on the steem.

Owner key can help a user to change to any of the key on steemit especially when there's need to change or when there is an update. To change any of the key, permission is required except the master key.

The memo key is used to transfer funds on steemit. It can be used to encrypt and decrypt memos.

Master key as the name implies is the master of all keys. It is the first key you have access to before all other keys. When once you sign up on steemit, master key is the first key you will get.

How do you plan to keep your master key?

I will copy it to a safe place and lock it up to prevent unauthorized access to it.

Do you know how to transfer your Steem token to another Steem user account?

Yes, when transferring steem, this are the steps involved:

• Log in to your wallet
• Click on the small drop down arrow
  beside Steem
• chose transfer
• Enter the username of the recipient
  (without the at sign)
• Enter the amount of Steem you're
  sending.
• Add a brief note in Memo box if
  necessary if not omit memo
• Click transfer to compete the process

Do you know how to power up your Steem?

Yes, as a newbie and with my desire to grow fast, I have set my rewards to 100% automatic power up (SP)
This will make it easy for me to claim and power up my tokens.
When talking about how to power up, this are the steps involved:

• log in to your wallet
• Click in the drop arrow beside Steem
• chose power up
• Enter the amount to be powered up.
• Make sure the entered amount of Steem
  is not greater than the balance shown
  below the Amount box.
