Achievement 2: Basic security in steemit

In fulfilment of the requirements of completing all achievement posts and having Introduced my self to this great platform, I'll be writing on the basic securities in steem, permission keys on steem, how to transfer and power up liquid steem on steemit

Security

As we all know security is all about safety, could be safety of life, property, investment etc
Security is something we all take seriously in our day to day to lives.

Basic security in steemit

Steemit like most financial and crypto projects have been able to set up a very strong security system to help all its users secure their account from hacking and misuse.

In steemit they are five basic keys used for different security purposes. I believe only steem has this security in place because other platforms have just one password or key for everything. There are active keys, posting keys, owner keys, memo keys and master keys.

Question 1

Have you retrieved your Steemit keys?

Ans: Yes I have retrieved my steemit keys, I have also backed them up both in hard and soft copy in the case of any eventuality.

Question 2

Do you know each of these key's functions?

Ans: Yes I do and below are the functions of each keys on steemit.

-Master Key:

The master key as the name implies is the master of all the other keys, it can be used to recover the other keys. This is the most important key that should not fall into the wrongs hands.

-Posting key:

This key is your everyday access key to steemit, it is used to login, comment, edit, resetem, vote and follow other account.

-Active key:

The active key is like your ATM pin, it is used to authorise sensitive tasks such as transfers , power up/down of liquid steem, voting for witnesses, and placing a market order.
Misplacing this key is like losing your ATM pin to thieves, yeah all your money will be stolen so be safe with it.

-Owner key:

The owner key is the most powerful key because it can be used for recovery compromised account and other keys, including the owner key.

-Memo key:
This key is used for decrypting and encrypting memos on the platform when transferring funds.

Question 3

How do I plan to save your master password?

I have printed out my masterkey and kept it in a safe deposit. I have also backed it up on cloud storage.

Question 4

Do I know how to transfer your liquid steem token to another account?

Ans: Yes I can and I will explain how I did it.

• First I opened my steemit account and login with my posting key.

• Then I clicked on my wallet in the header section.

• A page then pops up showing my balances, key and permission, password change etc

• I clicked on the drop down arrrrow beside steem and small dialogue box appeared.

• I chose transfer and a page popped up where I can put the amount of steem and the recipient username.

• Login with the posting key to complete transfer

Question 5

Do I know how to power up liquid steems?

Ans: Yes I know how to and I have powered up all my liquid steems.

• Still in the wallet section I clicked on the drop arrow beside steem, then selected the power up option, chose the amount I want to power up , then click on power up

• A confirmation page popped up and I clicked ok and my steem was immediately powered up.
