Since I was a kid I've been taught to keep an assertive and efficient hygiene, specially on what concerns my hands because is practically what you use the most to interact with the outer world.
Mankind has come across many events that has defied its own survival, and in the last century the first defense ring against most of illnesses and infections is precisely the systematic use of personal hygiene: body, oral and hands washing.
That's the real reason why mankind passed of having a 30 years old lifespan to the modern 85 years. It means it's three times as much as it was just 100 years ago.
Just by using soap, a regular bath and washing the food and meals we consume has granted us a longer lifespan and a better health than our predecessors, without considering antibiotics and modern medicine science, of course.
When the pandemic stroke it surprised most of us, and soon reality took its toll and I think everyone knows what I'm trying to say, so I'm going to spare the details.
But in my family we already had a habit to keep our hands clean, washing them everytime we returned from exteriors, specially if we had interactions with other people. We also washed our faces to keep it clean from elements because our region has quite a hostile climate, because is hot and humid.

So, all we had to do is to increase our hygiene by washing our hands more frequently, but if you ask me everything relies on common sense: if somehow you feel you need to wash yourself, just do it.
Our routine starts with the basic facial washing followed by a hand washing: about 20-30 seconds soaping your palms, the fingers and with a massaging movement on your fingertips. Then, remove the soap with cold water (well, as cold as it can be here in Maracaibo haha) and proceed to use a second antiseptic gel, that leaves an extra antibacterial protection, as a shield, while it moisturizes your hands because is made out of aloe vera and vitamin E.
Start washing your hands throughfully with circular movements in your palms, and ending with a massage on your fingertips. Pictures taken by myself
Once your hands and face has been washed, rinse it and dry it with a clean and fresh towel, and Voilá! Everything's done until next time you need to wash yourself again.

We usually buy products like Protex, that has a 3 kind of certified antibacterial protection: light, medium and strong. We usually buy it strong or medium. Sometimes we buy Safeguard when you can find it at the market. For our gel we use a generic brand bought in regular pharmacies and supermarkets and so far it has accomplished its task accordingly.
How many times do I wash my hands daily? That's hard to say, maybe at least 10 times but it all depends on how many times I hit the streets, that lately it hasn't been as frequent as it used to be.
In my family EVERYONE tries to keep his hands as clean as possible, because the safety of each one means the safety of everyone.
Whether if there's a pandemia or not, we need to keep a basic hygiene rules in order to be as safe and healthy as possible, and it envolves not only us but our families and friends. Covid19 is not the only virus or pathogen out there, is just one of thousands that can find their way into our immunological system or the ones of what we eat.
