The sex divide in the west and how Feminism empowers it.steemCreated with Sketch.

There's no doubt about it but Facebook absolutely encourages people to lazy-think.

Facebook has done a lot of good things for the world of course. I mean for instance we can now check out what's happening in countries that our news wouldn't report on, or events that have media blackout -- Facebook has given cause to these events and shown the world what has been happening. It can be an amazing tool if used well.

The rise of educating people on world events has been astounding. It's even brought Politics into the small working mans home where he can now feel like he's part of the bigger picture, having a say on what matters to him.

But where social media falls short is when it provides people with the access to this information but provides zero nuance. None whatsoever. And it's worse now because I feel print media and the establishment media get away with less nuance than ever before. And thus everyone is ploughed with biased information with no thought to check the angle in which it's given to us.

The sex divide is the one that gets me the most, perhaps because it encroaches on my profession, and delves into area that interlaps with my life and professional experience from with working with other people.

Here is a post I caught from a dear friend of mine that I have been working with for a long time on several projects dotted across the internet. She published this Facebook post yesterday. I can't say I was shocked, but from her it was unexpected.

There is this annoying idea in the west that men are born and then all of a sudden we're transported into a life of wonderful privilege. Having no problems whatsoever; never challenged, never called out for being overbearing, or controlling, or angry.

Yeah, it's an easy life being a man. Of course, what can you expect with all that white male privilege power to randomly assault poor oppressed people with. It's a terrible burden to bear having all that power at my fingertips, being a man.

However this is simply not true, and coming from my friend (who is still my friend by the way, I try hard not to judge people for their experiences), it's intellectually lazy.

The sad part of this whole thing is that the media takes a very small portion of men and applies their actions to the wider group. So if ten men are caught doing horrible things then that must mean every man is at it. The foundations of this is dishonest, and quite frankly discriminatory.

It's easy (and lazy) to join the fight against men. It's easy to dehumanize men so that by flipping them off with a couple of sentences on how their life is so easy so that you don't have to do any actual work into men. You don't have to sit and listen to them about their actual life experiences because of course, that would be far too hard. And that then humanizes the situation and creates a little empathy.

But we can't have that. Humanizing men simply isn't an option

Feminism needs the billions of dollars in funding it gets yearly to exist. The woman's centers, the empowerment drives, the campaigning, the DV industry, they all need their little cut to exist. They all need an enemy.

And so we are it, men.

And this is why people like my good friend think they are at a disadvantage, because the media she consumes regularly tells her so. Spoon-feeds it to her regularly until she can't resist it anymore.

Here's a thought. How about this concept:

We are all at a disadvantage, and we muddle through it together to make life better for ourselves?

I can't honestly imagine walking into a healthy relationship with proper boundaries thinking that you are at a disadvantage. How would that work anyway? I couldn't imagine treating your partner properly thinking you are at a disadvantage?

We really must think about the ways in which men sacrifice themselves to make the world a better place, there are plenty.

For instance, war.

For every article you read by a woman complaining about the unpaid work she does in the home there is a man in the background out there breaking his back so the family can have food on their table.

Then there's women and children first whenever there's a catastrophe

I can list more but I don't want this article to solely be about the hypocritical ways in which men are demonised.

And this is why the man cave was born. You see, in the man cave we believe that men can be men whatever the case. Beating your chest and knocking your boxing opponent out is frowned in mainstream, but not here.

Here is a nice place to just, you know, be men. Whether that's talking about feelings, or continually sharing boob pics -- that's fine with us. It's what men do! We are not identified by our sex, and you can't stereotype us. We are a bunch of individuals.

So come in, join us, away from this activism bollox and the media hype of nothingness. Get away from that shite and have some fun in the cave here: https://discord.gg/qd8J2x3

We are a growing project. Come in and check out what we're all about.
