Hello my pals of the steemit block chain I am very happy for this contest, for it's going to helps us learn various ways of protecting and caring for our forest and other green vegetations, after learning their uses and importance.
From my own understanding, forest refers a very large uncultivated vas of trees and undergrowth, larger than woods. It is normally very greenish and contains both bigger and smaller trees of different species.
My entry here is about the Gongnia forest and it's located in Navrongo, the Upper East Region of Ghana, in a community called Gongnia behind the old University for Development Studies. This forest covers about 20 acres of the community land and always greenish during the rainy season and very dried and brownish during the dry season

The outer part of the forest

At the outer part of the forest, the natives of the community who have herbivores send them there to feed on the smaller green grasses, hence serving as a source of feed for the animals. Also there are several crops that are also grown at the outside of the forest, crops such as rice, maize groundnuts, and millet. This part of the forest has dark souls and very fertile for our kind of crops, it is always wet or moist and therefore always distributing water for the crops to grow.
Houses that are closer to the forest can bear witness to the fact that, they always experience very cool atmosphere compared to those that don't have forest around them.

Myself

As seen in the first picture above, we can all see animals grazing the grasses; it shows that, it also serve a source of feed for animals such as sheep, goat, and cattle. The forest protect the housees near it from windbreaks and keep their house from disasters. It also protects the houses around from flood by serving as flood breaks.
The forest as we know also contain several other organisms which serve as abode for the organisms and also provide them with their basic needs.

Furthermore, there is a saying that "The last tree dies, the last man dies", this simply implies that, the plant is what keeps our lives and controls our breath. The forest is responsible for taking carbon dioxide and bring us oxygen to breath in a process known as photosynthesis. The forest also contains plants the produce edible plants, these plants bear fruits for the community members. It has also help the community members during building of their local homes which they use mostly logs from the forest to roof the house. Some native doctors in the area go there to get some medicinal plant parts to treat some ailments such as malaria, fever, cold and even boils.

Conclusively, it is the responsibility of all to reserve the forest ones our lives depend on them, by avoiding excessive cutting down of trees without replacing them and burning the forest, we must also create fire belts around the forest to avoid distraction during accidental fire outbreaks.
We should all make it an initiative to plant trees if not even the community but, around our various homes. I also invite the government to enforce laws for the use of the forest.

I invite @tardigrade180, and @dave123 to participate in the contest.
Thank you all
