UFC 251 on July 12, 2020 (US), no doubt, is a stacked card. It will be the first fight on Fight Island since the pandemic Corona Virus that affected almost all countries in the world. And UFC made sure of an exciting roster during that event.
We have two titles at stake starting with the Welterweight championship bout between Kamaru Usman vs Gilbert Burns and then the battle for Featherweight supremacy on this highly contested rematch between AlexanderVolkanovski and Max Holloway. We also have one of the brightest prospects of the Bantamweight division today Petr Yan battling it out with the legendary former champion Jose Aldo.
But surprisingly, even to me is that I have my eyes most anticipating is the rematch between Jessica Andrade vs Rose Namajunas, it is maybe because of the prospect that if Rose Namajunas wins the bout a mega-fight between her and Zhang "Magnum" Weili will be coming next.
During the first match, Rose Namajunas is still the champion and could have met Zhang Weili earlier. Rose is also dominating the early part of that match until Jessica Andrade caught her with a body slam that got her knocked out unconscious. A lot of things happened after that, Zhang Weili got the title from Jessica Andrade. Then she got the fight of her life in her match against Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Interesting to note that Joanna Jedrzejczyk was dominated twice by Rose Namajunas. If Rose Namajunas can overcome the hurdle against Jessica Andrade this coming July 12. We can see the match up who will determine the most dominant female strawweight UFC champion of all time.
This will catapult Zhang "Magnum" Weili to superstardom especially in this part of the world, China, and the rest of Asia. This remains to be Zhang Weili's biggest challenge though. I actually see Rose Namajunas have a slight advantage, especially with her highly technical striking skills.
There can still be a lot of things that can happen but like the rest of fight fans. I want to see one queen to rule them all. I want to see the strongest and the most skilled to reign the said division. The most competitive match that can happen in the said female weight category. A future Asian superstar? Or still the silent but talented Rose Namajunas in the end.
I am excited to see how this will roll out in the end. And the story will begin to unfold in the coming July 12. I see Rose Namajunas hands raised but just like any sport, anything can happen in the UFC. What about you? Who's your bet?
