Zhang Weili, The Champion.
Today Zhang "Magnum" Weili is UFC's Strawweight Champion. She done it in just over a time after she was introduced in her UFC debut against Danielle Taylor.
Now MMA and UFC becomes a popular global sport. It is even arguably more popular now than boxing. It has more juice on its stories and the fights are just so competitive that you rarely find a lull moment when fighters are inside the Octagon.
Zhang Weili is in one of the most competitive division of the women's category, many regard her fight against Joanna Jedrzejczyk as one of the greatest female fight in the history of UFC ever. You can see after the fight how they gave it all and how gruesome their faces are as result of that fight.
China has thousands of years of culture and rich history in the art of combat. Many feels that it is but right that someone from that country should dominate the mixed martial arts world. The arrival of Zhang Weili indicates a major storm in the competition. She dominated the top players in her way to the championship.
She should be a superstar soon. China's gateway to global sports dominance and she can be an ambassador to effectively introduce China's culture and drive to excellence.
Her Greatest Challenge.
What's on her way is Rose Namajunas. I think both of them got the tools to beat each other. Rose Namajunas also beaten Joanna Jedrzejczyk, a long time reigning female strawweight champion. Rose's loss to Jessica Andrade is just a short lapse that she can take care come their rematch this coming July 12. She dominated Jessica Andrade most of the time in that fight, if not for that last minute body slam that rendered Namajunas unconscious, she could have won that match.
If Rose Namajunas conquer Jessica Andrade in UFC 251. I am looking forward to a major showdown with Zhang "Magnum" Weili. Now that is a fight you can't miss. I am 50-50 on that fight, I think Rose Namajunas has the superior striking skills but Zhang Weili has more strength and hunger.
I can't wait to see that fight, but while waiting, we will see some of the videos of Zhang Weili as she is featured in these UFC fight videos.
