Start of the second community puppet workshop

in hive-174578 •  5 years ago

After a long period in which the promotion was not enough to meet the goal of raising funds, I decided to take the risk of starting the workshop with an initial amount that is not fair, but at least enough to get the workshop up and running, and from there to start a special campaign to finish getting the necessary resources to hold the workshop for a period of 1 and a half months.

From the theatre to the school

On the eve of the carnival holidays, a very celebrated date in Venezuela, the workshop production decided to go to the school to start the workshop with the selected children. They are divided into 4 years of primary education and belong to the popular sector of San Agustin of which I have mentioned in past publications.

There are 30 children in total for this first stage since the money collected is not enough to start at full capacity the goal is 50 children, 25 more than in the first workshop so I added a special goal where I requested more resources to start.

Alegría

The children were excited by my arrival which was a surprise, we talked about the beginning of the workshop and what the objectives are during the long days of classes that we will have, I took advantage of the moment to clarify doubts and encourage both the school management and the students' teachers to get involved in the activity which will be an important step in a community where no similar activity related to puppetry has ever been carried out.

Schedule and calendar of activities

The schedule of activities is the same that I established in the first workshop. I have summarized the activities by days while the class schedule will be divided into two days a week.

Day 1 Introductory talk to the world of puppets with the children participating in the project.

Day 2 Waste collection and sorting (discussion about what kind of puppets to make).

Day 3 Dramatization and its resources: linguistic, corporal, plastic and rhythmic-musical expression.

Day 4 Different situations and contact through corporal expression.

Day 5 Games and dramatic activities (putting yourself in different situations and improvising).

Day 6 Puppet theatre, types of puppets, sticks, threads.

Day 7 Learning theatrical concepts.

Day 8 Creating puppets, puppetry, making the stage box or the theatre.

Day 9 Theatrical editing and stage creation.

Day 10 Activities of breathing, phonology, relaxation, concentration, improvisation.

Day 11 Activities that encourage oral expression, communication.

Day 12 Discussion about the format and content of the play.

Day 13 General rehearsal

Day 14 Dress rehearsal

Day 15 presentation of the work in the community.

In spite of being expressed 15 days the workshop has a duration of 1 month and a half. Since the rehearsals are usually for more days as well as the elaboration of the puppets takes a little more time.
