Recap

Recent events between Steemit Inc. and Tron has caused led to a lot of conversations about the potential union. There were early rumours about @justinsunsteemit's sinister motive of defragmenting Steem and then absorbing it to Tron blockchain. The silence and somewhat tactless social media activities of both Sun and various Tron foundation accounts caused panic around the chain, and this made top witnesses take a proactive decision.

The decision of the witnesses seems to have had a positive effect on proceedings, at least on the surface because it Steemit Inc. has become a lot more forthcoming with information. First of all, there was the open letter to Steem community where Sun talked about how he doesn't intend to damage the Steem blockchain but instead wants to work in unison with it. In that open letter, there was a scheduled town hall meeting and meetings with Witnesses as well.

As far as I can tell, @justinsunsteemit is a very polarising figure that doesn't always come off tactful both in speech and social media. However, he's shown that he's very adept at getting people's attention and exploits mainstream media quite well. I also like to point out that(and this is my opinion) he's also done a lot more marketing for Steemit than the old guard ever did due to his popularity and media savviness.

The acquisition of Stinc had a ripple effect that spread across both Steem and Tron blockchains, with a new form of exchange between people from the two platforms. Instead of adding fuel to the flames of pointless cryptocurrency civil wars, I embraced this new exchange and even devised a symbiotic business model from my Steem and recently acquired Tron holding. It isn't full proof, but it has potential.

Right Now

Roughly 13 hours ago, Steemit Inc released a statement concerning the recent acquisition and talked in depth about their plans for the near future. According to the post made by @steemitblot, the idea is to unify Steem and Tron without damaging either seamlessly.

The plan also talked about creating an easy Swap between Tron and Steem, and not the initial talk of making Steem tokens worthless like was rumoured. The concept of creating an easy swap or exchange between the two tokens is an idea I put forward in my Steem-Tron masterplan, and I think it is a brilliant idea if executed properly.

The Future

The idea of collaboration is exciting and refreshing, and as @whatsup alluded to in one of her tweets, these sort of unions will become commonplace in the crypto universe as time goes on.

There's still widespread scepticism about Steemit's motives and a lot of people even think that this new openness and interaction with the public is a trojan horse or like the red wedding in the game of thrones. None of us can say anything for sure because it's all speculative and opinion-based.

Realistically the sceptics could be right, and this is why I'm cautiously optimistic about the situation and trying to take the positives from the situation. I hope I'm right and this thing doesn't blow up in my face because if it does, I'm going to have a serious mental breakdown. Oh well
