On our way back home from the beautiful Datça Peninsula we made a one night stop in a seaside town called Akyaka. Akyaka is a very famous Kitesurf spot that is known worldwide and is believed to be the best in turkey.
But Akyaka is mainly known for its Azmak Stream that is formed by springs extending about two miles from East to West. The water, that is coming from the mountains. The Creek has an average depths of about 6m and is home to several animals like fresh water turtle, Eurasian otter and lots of ducks.
Since we only had one night in this place, there was unfortunately no time for one of the boat trips along the river or to watch the kite surfers. But it was still enough for a nice evening stroll along the river and the beach promenade.
It is really a very relaxed and idyllic little town and worth a visit at the moment. Even the dogs here are super relaxed and do not bark at everything that moves.
Due to the many kite surfers and diving schools, it is also a very interesting place for younger people and there seems to be a little night life here.
