For me the best way to start into the weekend is either a very good saturday morning surf session or a morning walk through Australias breathtaking nature.
In my mid 20s I was thinking differently but today this is exactly how a good weekend starts and as the weather was absolutely perfect this morning and we got up quite early we choose to do the morning walk. If I go surfing every morning I probably get some trouble with my girlfriend. :)
Well, only because I do not surf myself does not mean I´m not allowed to take photos of waves and other people surfing these waves!
We´ve been to the Noosa Heads Nationalpark many times already, but we always started our walk from the Noosa National Car Park, and ended it lates at the Hells Gate Lookout.
Today we started the walk from the other side, from Sunshine Beach. It´s less crowded here but not less beautiful. I wanted to start that walk from here a while back but as soon as I arrived it started to rain. Today there were no rain clouds but only blue sky. It did hurt me a bit when I saw the waves and knew that I could not surf them, but its going to get much better the next days.
We parked at the top of Sunshine Beach, were parking is very limited. This is where the rich people live and they don´t want all the people parking in their streets.
If you park here you need to get down to the beach and walk a few hundred meters at the beach before you reach the entrance of the Nationalpark
It wasn't even 9am but already quite hot for a autumn day. From the start of National Park there is only one way and that way is uphill.
It starts with a few quite steep steps and the higher you climb, the better the view gets. We´ve never been up there, but today we wanted to make it at least to Alexandria Bay. Luckily every now and then there were some nice shady trees.
The walk itself is worth a visit but if you reach the highest point and turn around you will have the most beautiful, priceless view on Sunshine Beach. If the weather is as good as today you can see Mount Coolum in the distance and even farer.
On a day like today I could sit there forever and watch the surfers in the water. In july the journey of the Humpback Whales towards the warmer north starts. Then this is a good spot to see them.
Ok enough surfing action, otherwise I run down again and jump into the water.
After a few hundred meters more we reached a small bay called Devil´s Kitchen. This spot is not made for swimming or surfing but beautiful to look at.
Look at that crystal clear water. If this isn't a good start in to the weekend then what is?
Just a few steps further, around the corner and we could finally see the Alexandria Bay. Awesome waves there as well and lots of surfers in the water, although its not that easy to reach. You will either have to walk, like we did, or need a 4x4 car to reach the car park.
We spent some time there, enjoying the view, taking photos and celebrating the big waves crashing onto the rocks.
As we forgot our water, like almost every time we go on a walk, it was time to head back. Never underestimate the climate in australia. Even on a autumn day before noon time the sun can be brutal and so it was today.
This trip was already so much worth it, but what would be a trip into nature without some wildlife. For a perfect start into the weekend I needed something special, something you do not see every day and luckily this was our day.
On the way back down to Sunshine Beach we saw some people standing around a bench. When we came closer I saw a tiny snake on the bench. First I thought she will be gone as soon as we´re close enough. But it turned out that the snake was in no hurry. So I had plenty of time taking photos of this beautiful small Green Tree Snake.
One of the guys standing there told us that she just had a small Lizard for breakfast. Damn it, I probably missed one of the best shots ever.
On the way out of the Nationalprk we said good bye to Flip the Grasshopper and went back to our car. Wow what an amazing saturday morning trip. Almost makes you forget about all that shit what is going on at the moment.
Next time, probably you could surf. Beautiful beaches and nature.
