Growing up, I can say I was never really fond of superheroes. When everyone my age made a fuss about Superman, Spiderman, Thor, Batman and many more to mention, I had my attention fixed on the likes of Hela, Venom, Joker, Maleficent, and Thanos. At one glance we claim that the protagonist makes up all of the story. But eyeing up close, it is the villain that makes up the protagonist or so they call the hero. Where would Harry Potter be without Voldemort? And as I age, I get to recognize more of how the antagonist give color to the story. The audience appreciate the protagonist more after overcoming something great. Behind that is a cunning and equally powerful villain. The thing that keeps us flipping the pages or absorbed in a film is the daunting challenge that a hero needs to overcome which is, thereby, delivered by an intelligent and great villain. So holding on these points, I assert that the art behind a good story is the art of villains.
Today, as a sign of commemoration of my adoration of villains, I made a painting on the infamous Venom.
