I want to share with you an automotive repair project that I did together with my colleague at my workplace approximately 6 days ago

This project is about the repair and painting of a collision that resulted in a traffic accident, what happened was that a motorcycle hit the rear of the vehicle

Este proyecto trata sobre la reparación y pintura de una colisión que resultó en un accidente de tráfico, lo que sucedió fue que una motocicleta golpeó la parte trasera del vehículo

So now it is our goal to repair it and leave it looking like new. We started this project by taking apart

We remove the tail lights from the car

Quitamos las luces traseras del automóvil

And we take out the rear bumper

Y sacamos el parachoques trasero

We did this to see the internal damage it has. And, of course, it was also necessary to remove the upholstery from the trunk because we need to hit inside and out to give the correct shape to the piece

Hicimos esto para ver el daño interno que tiene. Y, por supuesto, también era necesario quitar la tapicería del baúl porque necesitamos golpear por dentro y por fuera para darle la forma correcta a la pieza

Also now I can repair the bumper in a more comfortable way

Because the failure it has is quite serious

So, after taking away the blow. We just needed to flatten the outer surface a bit. My colleague took care of that

Then use the sander with coarse sandpaper to leave the surface rough and sanded evenly

To correct the remaining details, apply a product called putty

So now I applied the putty to the area that I'm going to correct

I wait a few minutes for it to dry and then start sanding

Meanwhile I repaired the rear bumper and put it in place to apply putty and correct its defects

I had several flaws so I went for part

When it was dry I sanded it

Now it does have the right shape, for that it is necessary to place and remove the rear headlight to ensure that everything is in place

Now I sand the surroundings a little to increase the area of ​​adherence, because now I must apply the background

But first I have to cover with paper what I don't want to stain

Pero antes debo cubrir con papel lo que no quiero manchar

In this way I protect the parts that are intact

This process takes me a few minutes. But it is very important

Este proceso me lleva unos minutos. Pero es muy importante

Now it's time to apply the background. For this I use a paint gun and the help of a compressor

So he applied a layer of material and let it dry for a few minutes

Entonces aplicó una capa de material y la dejó secar durante unos minutos

In total I am going to apply three coats to let it dry for two hours

En total, voy a aplicar tres capas para dejar que se seque durante dos horas

This is the result when the background is fully applied

Now it is time to sand. For that we remove the paper

Ahora es tiempo de lijar. Para eso retiramos el papel

And we start sanding, this process takes time and is quite important because the finish of the painting depends on it. Let me show you the progress little by little

Y comenzamos a lijar, este proceso lleva tiempo y es bastante importante porque el acabado de la pintura depende de ello. Déjame mostrarte el progreso poco a poco

After having sanded all the bottom, we wash the car

Luego de haber lijado todo el fondo, lavamos el automóvil

Now we enter the car in a completely clean paint booth

Ahora ingresamos al auto en una cabina de pintura completamente limpia

And we started to cover with paper what we don't want to stain

Y comenzamos a cubrir con papel lo que no queremos manchar

I applied a product to correct small details

Apliqué un producto para corregir pequeños detalles

After correcting the small details, it is ready for painting

Después de corregir los pequeños detalles, está listo para pintar

Now we start to cover the base for the color

Ahora comenzamos a cubrir la base para el color

So for this we apply several layers to cover

Entonces para esto aplicamos varias capas para cubrir

After this if we can start to cover the original color

Luego de esto si podemos comenzar a cubrir el color original

Now we can apply the varnish to the paint. And then we let the piece dry for 24 hours

Ahora podemos aplicar el barniz a la pintura. Y luego dejamos que la pieza se seque durante 24 horas

When it is dry we can remove all the paper

Cuando esté seco podemos retirar todo el papel

Now it's time to start sanding the polishing piece

Ahora es momento de comenzar a lijar la pieza para pulir

For this I used a very fine sandpaper

Para esto usé un papel de lija muy fino

Ahora empecé a pulir

Now I did start polishing

Little by little we are seeing the progress of the polished

Poco a poco estamos viendo el progreso del pulido

This is how it looks now, since the polishing is completely finished

Now it's time to clean the whole car, in a few words wash it and this is the end result
