One of my photographic dreams is to be able to shoot birds from a large distance. The Tamron I am currently using is not bad, but it is still not it. The birds that are closer are easy with the max zoom. But the small ones that sit on top of the trees are still out of my reach. In the meantime I try to catch the less shy ones.
One autumn day I went to our orchard in hope to catch some of those. The trees are dense and not too big and I have seem many different types searching for food. We always leave some fruits on the trees or on the ground. Some nuts that weren't picked, grapes that are too high . Plus some pines that provide shades and extra cones to feed on. And surprise surprise. As soon as I wanted to pack my gear after shooting dry leaves and branches I saw a bunch of Great Tits passing by. I sat down on a little bench and prepared my camera.
And there she was! Right in front of me!
She sat and was looking around... looked like she was nervous or looking for something."
Shit.. shit.. where did they all go?
I think they went that way.. helloooooo...
Anyone...?
Oh wait... I think I head something from there.
Hooman, did you hear it?
Stop taking those damn pictures and tell me where they went!

And off she went.
I am surprise she didn't get scared of the shutter sound. That's how close she was.
I like how energetic they are. In winter time they come much closer to the houses and are not afraid to check on every corner around the house for hidden bugs and eggs.
We always put out a birds feeder in a garden for them where they have to fight with sparrows. Fun thing to watch.
Plus they have one of the nicest voices out there. The Great and Blue Tits are my fav birdies.

She is a cutie pie. I'm also excited to capture the birds and get lost in their world..But my 18-55 mm lens really sucks at it and right now i can not manage to spend so much money on a good telephoto lens.
Anyway, can you suggest me a good and moderately priced nikon dx lens to capture the birds in a dense forest? I just want to know your opinion.

Ohhh I am the wrong person to ask. I have completely no experience with tele lenses and only own the Tamron. Which does the job.. but I want more. Those are just very expensive.
I would just go for the higher number I can afford :P
