Using the chess to promote Steem in Venezuela | Let's start make this a reality ^-^

Hi all! It's been a few weeks since I made my first publication about this project, the attention the project attracted has been so much that I've been excited to make a second publication for a long time, but I don't like to do everything in a hurry, so I took some time to prepare everything better and make this a reality as soon as possible.

What exactly have I been doing all this time?

First of all, spending time with my family. I'm not going to lie to you, I have a life too, so I devoted myself to my family most of the time. But, on the other hand, I've been talking with coach Ulises Hernandez to prepare the first chess tournament organized thanks to Steem (and the projects that make life here), in this post I'll explain EVERYTHING we want to do to start this project and start fighting against everything that comes along.

Before you start reading this post, if you are interested in the project, I ask you to read the first post I made about this project, even more if you are interested in supporting it or if you have ideas/suggestions about what else we could do. Thank you very much for your attention and your time!

The first chess tournament organized thanks to Steem? Whaat?

The first chess tournament organized thanks to Steem is an idea I've been planning with my chess coach. Thanks to this start, we'll be able to give a great presentation about what Steem is and how we'll be doing it all thanks to this amazing community.

In my first publication about the project I explained how chess tournaments work in my country, so it wouldn't be a surprise if that tournament had more than 100 players, a really big number and I know a lot of the players will be interested in Steem.

And why should you be interested in a chess project supported by Steem?

This question is really important, I want the benefits to be quite clear and, although I explained them in my first post, I need you to know that I want to bring benefits to Steem and not just stand around waiting for the price of the crypto go up. This is the contribution I want to make and I will be working hard on this.

The screenshot you can see above is a list of the tournaments organized by the organizer Ulises Hernandez in the last few months. The complete list can be found here. Why does this matter? Because in every name of every tournament we do we can place Steem as a sponsor (something like supported by Steem), this means that Steem's name will be able to appear in an extensive list of tournaments done by us thanks to the fact that every tournament we do will be published on the internet.

It may not seem like a big deal, but believe me, the ratings.fide.com site has at least 1 million visitors per month, and if even a remote amount (less than 1%, it doesn't matter) can see the name "Steem" somewhere, that might be more than enough to ignite the spark and investigate how a chess tournament can be made possible by Steem.

Not only ratings.fide.com, but also in pages like chess-results.com the name "Steem" can appear, this only doing the tournaments and without the need for the person to be present at it.

At the national level we can do something else

As I mentioned in my previous publication, my coach is vice-president of the Venezuelan chess federation, this is an important rank and it's an incredible plus if we try to do something new.

For now, we don't want to go at a national level, I feel it's too hasty, but we want to make a tournament where we can present Steem (and the projects that are supporting us) so that we can make newspaper articles and present to the federation a new way of making chess tournaments in our country.

Ok, so.. What will we offer directly with this tournament?

  • Promotion of Steem through talks and illustrations at the tournament
  • Write newspaper articles about the tournament and mention Steem in those articles.
  • Mention of the Steem projects that are supporting us.
  • Promotion of Steem on all chess-related social networks in the state of Nueva Esparta
  • Mention of Steem on international sites such as FIDE.com, ratings.fide.com and chess-results.com (described above)

If you have any ideas on how we could take advantage of the project in some other way, don't hesitate to tell me, I'd love to try other things that I may not have thought of

What will we need from Steem?

Venezuela is in an economic crisis, this has affected the Venezuelan chess association and it has become really difficult to organize chess tournaments where we can offer an optimal experience for the players, that's why we turn to Steem and offer what we have in our hands (we hope to offer much more as the project progresses)

I have been talking to my coach about what will be needed to make the tournament and we established a budget on how much money will be needed to make an incredible presentation event, we established it as follows:

  • Venue(High-quality tournaments are usually held in hotels): 90-150$
  • Cash prizes: 40$
  • Trophies and medals: 10$
  • Snacks and drinks for participants: 30$
  • Administrative expenses (such as payment of tournament referees): 15$

Total potential budget = 245 US Dollars.

Wait, why don't we fund the tournament through entry fees?

Good question, but unfortunately it would be useless to have a tournament with entry fees. Why? Simply for the same reason that we cannot make optimal tournaments, people do not have enough money to pay a registration fee of about $10. Just think, if we had a tournament of 100 people and everyone had to pay a $1 entry fee we would only reach $100, which couldn't even afford the tournament venue.

It is true that these problems would be avoided if the tournaments were held in more economically stable countries, but so far no one has been able to establish a plan to use chess as a means of promotion for Steem. That's why we want to take advantage of all the resources we currently have and make Steem known in every corner we can reach while we can count on the support of the community.

The way I will collect the funds will depend on the projects that decide to support this initiative, most probably through votes, but obviously donations will be more than welcome. The money we receive (in STEEM) will be exchanged directly to SBD (Steem Dollars) as SBD has a slightly more "stable" value than STEEM currently, so, 245 US dollars is about 450 SBD.

Accounts..

Most likely I will need to create accounts for the people who will be interested in Steem, some may become content creators, others just consumers, it will depend on what they want to do in Steem and their interest. I'll be available to them at any time if they're interested in going deep into Steem (which is the intention), so I'll most likely need someone who can provide me with accounts since Steemit.com's service is somewhat "slow" and I don't want to keep them waiting, so if someone can offer to provide accounts to new users who will be interested in Steem, I'd really appreciate it.

When can we hold the tournament?

I was thinking about doing the tournament at the end of this month (there is a possibility to do only one tournament each month if I don't receive so much support), but the date when we can do the tournament will depend on the support we receive, so, if you like the idea, you can have this tournament at the end of this month (yes, there will be videos and photos and everything).

Final thoughts

First of all: thank you. Many people have talked to me and given me advice, ideas and support for the project, just thank you very much for your trust and I promise you that I will be working hard on this. I am open to any kind of ideas or opinions you may have about the initiative.

Fun fact: To be honest I am not even sure how to get the funds I am asking for here (so if anyone has ideas please help me)

But seriously, this is an initiative that I want to carry out and I know that it will offer many good results for Steem in my country, I have the necessary tools to make Steem known in many more places and I really want the community to see that anyone can work to make Steem a better place. This is my contribution and I would love to have your support, thank you very much to everyone who has been supporting me so far and thank you very much if you are also interested in the project. I'm attentive to your comments.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 5 SBD worth and should receive 159 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.

Thanks for the follow-up via Discord! I've been busy as well - and still are. This does not look too bad by now, does it?

Follow-up with people and don't expect anything to be automatic already form two or three conversations. That's probably the best hint I may give you right now. Have not read your post yet, but looking forward to it! Steem on!

Kudos immediately @tipu curate !invest_vote
