It's that time again rockstars: Lego-build update time! I know, your life wouldn't be complete without a Lego update from old galenkp right? I hear ya! So, to my millions of supporters, commenters and up-voters (down-voters too) here you go...Bask in the glory of it y'all!
Above - Here's the completed stage two. I've got it in my delectably mocha-coloured hand to offer some perspective on size. This is just the prime mover of the build, the truck. Overall the model will end up being 95cm long, so almost a meter. (That's 37 inches or 1.03 yards or 3.1 feet for you Americans.) Here you can see the engine to the left, steering mechanism (the steering actually works) and the rear double drive wheels. The cabin will be built up on this platform.
Above - The initial sub-assembly's for stage two of the build. In the foreground is the chassis/sub-frame section that holds the engine and to the rear the steering elements and more chassis. You may note in the front-most assembly that there's a cam shaft which operates the engine - Making the pistons move up and down with the motion of the drive wheels. This is those little grey and white things set within that assembly, the right side.
Above - The engine. The moving pistons as mentioned above are those six grey circular things. This assembly is built upon the sub-frame as mentioned earlier. Again my delectably mocha-coloured hand offers perspective. To the very right you can see a grey and black angled piece - That's the drive shaft which connects into the two rear differentials to make it all operate.
Above - The engine in the front section of chassis. Here you can see that drive shaft I mentioned coming out of the engine. (It connects to the cam shaft below the pistons. The grey shaft protruding from the engine is the front axle which the steer-wheels connect to.
Above - The engine and front chassis section with the the steer-wheels added. It is now complete and ready to marry up to the rear double-axle section you can see in the rear. The steering wheel has been added and at this stage the steer-wheels now operate as they would in real life.
Above - The completed stage two. Once married up some additional parts were added including the mechanisms that will permit me to operate the steering externally, from the top of the truck - That's the red shaft extending upwards from the centre of the build. It will eventually terminate outside and to the rear of the cabin section and will enable the steering to be operated.
So there you have it Lego-fans, the completed stage two of the Mack Anthem build for your viewing pleasure. Your life is now complete...Well, closer to complete, as it surely cannot be complete until you have seen this Mack build all the way through.
Thanks for reading y'all.

Nearly 1m long that's a decent sized build O_O Hope you got display room for it XD You'll have to set up dioramas with your Lego trucks XP

Display room...Yeah, it's called anywhere it can fit. Faith will be tearing her hair out soon...🤣 Yes, it's a fairly big build and I'm not sure where it will live...On top of my piano I think though.

Top of the piano seems like a good idea, what else would you put on top of them anyway ;D
Is it actually a good idea to put things on top of pianos? Does it affect the sound? o_O

Nah, it doesn't affect the sound any. I currently have some books up there and the Lego VW beetle I built. It's a good sturdy place to put stuff. It makes it harder to dust...But as if I ever do that. I'm lucky to have Faith who puts up with my Lego and my, shall we say, less-developed housework skills. Lol
(To be honest I do help, but not as much as I probably should.)

Do you have different levels of mess tolerance? That's a big problem in this house XD (though J has backed off a lot)

Hmm, good question. I guess I have to say yes. I'm one who will put things down in random places all over the house and then get annoyed when I can't find it later as Faith has cleaned up. I say to her to stop messing with my filing system but after 32 years she still does it! We have a pretty tidy household though with the biggest mess being the cat toys and scratchy poles that are strewn about the place. Lol.

Thanks mate, yeah Lego do an amazing job with the engineering of these things. It's actually quite incredible how these things go together. Some smart buggers back at Lego for sure!

So...not only does it have a working differential, but you're telling me, that the camshaft moves the pistons up and down, corresponding to the movement of the actual Mack?! Holy gods, am I missing out on Lego Technic kits... /ᐠ-ᆽ-ᐟ \

That's correct...As the drive-wheels turn the drive-shaft works the cam and the pistons raise and lower in a set firing order. Cool huh?

That's beyond cool... That's ungodly. I've long been intrigued by Lego technic pieces, and I knew that they're pretty complex, but I never knew, until I started seeing you build them, that they're that intricate :O

They are pretty complex and making a mistake in stage one can mean stage three is messed up, but if one follows the instructions carefully they are easy enough. I'm really enjoying the Technic builds.

No mention of the..... mocha-coloured blisters...?
So You took the protective tape off your mocha-coloured fingertips for the hand modeling....?
Gonna be pretty fugging awesome when it is ready to pull a land train.

IT's a pretty enjoyable build actually. It's hasn't been anywhere near as complicated as the Landrover build and so quite enjoyable. No blisters either.

Howdy sir galenkp! Wow that does improve my life like lots...to be able to see this thing coming together. Those guys have some fine engineers. The project is just awesome. You get downvotes?

It's a pretty cool model, and yes I agree, the guys and girls at Lego are legends!
Yes, about $5 worth per post from two users. It ain't no thing though. All good. :)

$5 worth! That would drive some people crazy and probably drive them away! Do you know who they are? They're prejudiced against Aussies or something? lol.
