A quiet selection of photos from my pre-corona travels, with contemplative captions. Minimalism, ambience, delicate experiments with textural, atmospheric imagery.
masks were hung around the island by an anonymous donor...
the vacant shells begin to wash ashore after their inhabitants' demise...
her favorite pair of shoes, for which she never returned...
waves gently lap the shore, a piece of dry brush rustles in the breeze...
the security light shines upon the leaves after all the visitors have left...
but no one stays in the hotels anymore, because no one is allowed to travel... have the palm trees outside even noticed the difference?
a wire fence and a sign about trespassing... but the sign says nothing it all if no one around can read it, and the fence forgot its purpose as it kept none from crossing...
will the pollinators return soon? a question only implied by lightly trembling petals...
don't forget to feed us...
i am certain of you, if i am certain of nothing else.
what kind of animal makes tracks like these?
the blue dye in the pond slowly fades away...
instinctually compelled to reproduce before passing...
erosion from the wind; the only marks in the sand...
a wild mysterious world, perceived by animal senses
how strange it is to be anything at all... those concepts of fear, now only relics
mama's long gone... good luck, you're on your own.

Well, that evolved into something quite different from what I expected. It was an interesting journey for me. I didn't mean to end on a sad note with the chick and that caption. I found an order for the photos that worked well enough and started making stream of consciousness captions like I've always done and something unexpected took shape. I find that ending fitting... if a bit more sombre than I intended.
The chick in the last photo is in the facemask from the first photo. I wouldn't put that on-- you don't wanna be the only one with bird flu when bat flu is cover of all the papers, the doctors will just laugh at you.
The sun's coming up, I've been up all night. It's now my birthday. I think it's time for a nap.
