Camping or hiking in Tunisia can be as interesting as traveling abroad. Just that in Tunisia it has the advantage of not having to go far because natural treasures await just behind "the corner".
We took the road that leads to the El Haouaria nature reserve. The starting point is near the sign that indicates the wildlife that can be seen in the area. We started by climbing a few hills to avoid the tarmac road.
Generally this coast is very full of fish, especially since the place where we were, had a mixed seabed (sandy and rocky). But a full moon and a south wind are not the best clues for fishermen. So apart from a few small catches, half of which were returned to the water, we could not have had good sizes. Around midnight and in the absence of keys we decided to sleep and to better enjoy the beach the next day.
From there, we had to descend, it was without counting the unstable but above all very slippery stones which caused more than one to fall and which slowed us down a lot. Once down there, we could contemplate the purity of the sea, and for once I had the urge to bathe.
Once our goal is reached, a last look at the mountain; clear skies, wise decision to come early, the fog prevented the sun from reaching us.
Once the night started to fall, we had moved to choose a place for the camp. To save time while waiting for those who have left for a long hike in the mountain of El Haouaria, join us.
So even before having breakfast, we offer a more than magnificent morning swim, while admiring the seabed, before hitting the road to Tunis.
