Is steem now investible?

in hive-174578 •  5 years ago

I remember there were days when all I did was steem, now all I do is work. But I do still check in almost daily. Check my feed and silently stalk the people I use to engage with.  I love browsing steem.  When I am having a cuppa tea, the phone comes out and I aimlessly scroll and read.  I even check trending because I know I can find out the important stuff about steem on that page.   On this account, my personal account, I use steem as a customer, not a supplier.  Now there's a change that can't be all that bad.  And from @theexcelclub, I use steem as a business add on to utilize many of the benefits of the block.

There is so much going on in life right now and so personally I feel like an outsider looking in.  Which, in one way is good.  It has given me the chance to see things as the outsider would.  Being so heavily involved for so long things were a little cloudy. I didn't know it at the time, I  really thought it was clear as day.   We have our own perception.  And perception is something different from group to group, community to community, even person to person.

As an outsider looking in I see good and I see bad. I see #web3 or what the future of what #web3 could look like.  With apps and games popping up all the time, the communities, all the different uses of the block, decentralization and the problems currently faced by #web2.  steem is for sure an alternative solution.

I see development.  I see an active blockchain that is moving forward.  A blockchain that has changed and has grown and matured.  I see innovation and persistence.

I see communication and amazing use of the Steem.DAO.  Using stake based voting to gauge the opinion of stakeholders is fantastic and I would say one of the many creative things to come.

And wow the activity on twitter is fantastic.  Although I am not involved in the activity, it is visible, I see it all the time. I would love to see the same activity on Linkedin because Investors & businesses all hang out there.

I see the price and the ranking on Coinmarketcap.  Its been a bear for so long.  For long enough now that users don't zoom out far enough to see peak prices.   52 week high is $0.55, Current price $.20.  The price only needs to go to $.40 to make a 100% gain.  Massive gains can be made.

With all the activity, the innovation, the development, the community, an alternative to #web2. Stake based voice, the chance of ownerships, and then the price.  I see steem as something worth holding.  Something worth accumulating.  Something worth buying.  Something worth investing in, like an early stage, start-up.  yes, there are still some things to iron out, but it seems to be getting smoother.

What do you think?  Is steem now investible?

I definitely relate to what you’re talking about here. It’s hard to gain that top down perspective that you have as an outsider looking in when you’re someone who’s in the thick of it.

I’ve been on Steem for a bit over 3 years now. It’s been a wild ride, but I’ve continued to invest both time and money Into the chain. As you said, I’m in the middle of all of it, so I have the perspective of an insider versus an outsider.

I still think this blockchain has tremendous upside. It’s always been a question of when and not if for me. A lot of people expected STEEM to explode out of the gate, but I think our timescale needs to be recalibrated to years and not months and weeks.

All about perspective in the end. Thanks for sharing your point of view on it 🦁

I must say its been a wild ride for me too, and I loved every bit. I can't wait to have more time to get stuck back in. Thanks for stopping by.

Hi @paulag
I enjoyed your thoughtful post, and I agree that POV clouds perceptions as the eyes of a bride or groom are often bespeckled with rose colored glasses.

You raise many good points about the changes, improvements and indeed the problems here. And your right, it’s easier for us to double from 11 cents to 22 then for others to go from 100 to 200, or even ten to twenty.

There is reason for optimism here and I feel it and I will continue to share it, but I realize that I also wear glasses
:)
😊😂

P.S.
I continue to buy and accumulate Steem and another Token Steemleo or LEO Token on the Steem-Engine sidechain.

hi and thanks for reading. Things are really looking stronger than before and it's for sure been an awesome journey with more to come. looking in at all the positive, I feel like I am missing out a bit, so enjoy your time here so its personally rewarding as well as profitable :-)

So far i have a good investment with steem..

I think we all have :-)

yes one can now invest on the steem market...

Steem was always investible. Since, I joined Steemit, I have invested around $400 on buying Steem (unfortunately when it was above 3) and happy to see its progress despite of low price of Steem.

Posted via Steemleo

I bought around €7.5K all above a $1. I think my full holding is worth about that now.

That's the pity but we are hoping for the best.

I still think I bought at a good price and steem has way more potential

No doubt about that.

I believe in steem but l need to diversify my crypto holding. Answering the question, Steem is investible ever since but to make profit this is a time little late but still good to invest with. Buying is where the profit is made not on selling.

ohhhhhhhhhhh thanks for the cake

I definitely see Steem as "investible" . Especially at these prices. Iam in the thick of it and the excitement and passion is there as well as the fundamentals. It's just a matter of time ,imho

I think to its a matter of time, but the time we need to further develop the things we are currently building

Great @paulag, web3 has a great and bright future for blockchain

thank you

Magic 8 ball says, worth a punt :)

As you know I have been buying, and I'm not exactly stacking the fiat. I personally think Steem has turned the corner, both with what is happening on the chain, and regarding price of the token.

Good to hear you are keeping busy :)

Busy is one good, but I'm a totally missing steem and the people

There is so much going on in life right now and so personally I feel like an outsider looking in. Which, in one way is good. It has given me the chance to see things as the outsider would. Being so heavily involved for so long things were a little cloudy. I didn't know it at the time, I really thought it was clear as day. We have our own perception. Remark which reminds me of another old good friend and female steemian. @sykochica, a girl who share with you a similar story and who also used to actively perform many of the same sort of tasks and projects throughout the steem blockchain that you used to undertake more frequently in the recent past.

Yeah young lady. ¡One day at a time! Steem is undoubtedly highly investible. :)

"steem is undoubtedly highly investible. :)"
High five, well said :-)

Yea I know im not the only one thats shares a similar story. Its kinda crazy. situations must and we do what we can. But its great to watch all the positive things happen and know I can be part of it at any time :-)

I think the fundamentals for upside yes it is investable but when I look at exchanges order books the number of small sellers and price points don't make it attractive for a big investor to want to buy or sell a 50k or 100k buy or sell order would result in so much slippage because there's just not much liquidity at certain price points.

I'd say capital in this space doesn't look at the product only how they can turn quick profits

As for long term investors like institutions, they're still making far too much money with stocks continuing to move to ATH. The stock market continues to grab as much of the fresh money being printed I mean Boeing is now 50x more than its declared earnings, its insanity but it keeps going so why would capital go into crypto?

It would first go into bonds and precious metals before crypto

The fact that projects are surviving with so few users, investment and interest show there is something here and those that continue will reap the benefits of the reversal its all about outlasting the rest at this point.

SO yes I think STEEM is worth adding to your portfolio, it's my second biggest holding after BTC.

Long term investors is what we want. Obviously, with the chance of bigs gains at such a low price we will see crypto-traders looking for short term gains. Meanwhile, blockchain is gaining more traction and attention, so maybe time is all we need.

steem is by far my biggest holding. lol Im not very diverse....

Hi @paulag thanks for your insights from both inside and outside the steempot. I was disheartened by the bear market, and gave up hope in steem when I saw all the conflict and psychological downtrend it went on. However, the bear market pulled all the tokens down, and as you say steemit has tremendous growth occurring, so it is a working blockchain with huge potential, as well as a powerful social media platform that pays, which is actually revolutionary to the outsider.

The inflationary model though and management of the pool and the system - with all its loopholes for whales - could be refined though, to be more egalitarian, but I am an amateur so don't know the details. Nevertheless, I will keep posting and growing my earnings to make a profit with my time and input. Now it just depends on if price will actually return to its original place, as is happening with Bitcoin.

there was a time I was disheartened by the conflict too, it got rather bad for a while. but I think we got past most of that. Yes, I see some tit for tat arguments still happen, but that part of the beauty, we all have a voice and an opinion and so can't agree all the time.

What do you think? Is steem now investible?

I guess it all depends on your risk appetite but you are asking someone who has steem as one of his biggest holdings so...
The development is looking good and promising, lets hope it keeps going

hehehhehe it's my biggest holding for sure. High five

It is a game of patience and to see the potential of this technology.

Ah man, its a good job I have patience and also a good job I have a job so can afford those patience. Imagine if I could hold for 10 years. I reckon we could hit $10

Thank you for your zoomed out perspective @paulag

I feel I could use some zooming out / some distance myself. An upcoming trip to The Netherlands might help. It's easy to start wearing blinders, when we're so involved in something for a long, long time.

Nice to hear that things looks hopeful / positive from out there though ;>)

a trip away is always good. Enjoy it and yea plug out for a few days from steem and just look in without being involved :-)
