this is true, I must check mine myself. Although I don't think token owners want to see their steem based token drained to 0.

Also, some of the witnesses we are supposed to be voting for are powering down. Don't we also need their steempower as well? Seems like they should stop their power downs and use their full steempower as well.

A proper cynic might suggest that they are getting what they want without investing their own effort. Simultaneously encouraging other people to lock up their STEEM in SP (increasing the value of STEEM in the market and on exchanges by reducing its availability) while converting their SP into now more valuable STEEM?
The opportunist in me really wishes I could get in on some of that business.
