3 weeks ago, it was a normal lifestyle, people were moving freely, doing jobs, students were attending their classes and children were playing. And now after 22 days, the entire city turned into a dead city or I can say a city where no one lives.
The First corona case was identified on 12th March and later on 14th March, when infected person died, panic attack spread. It was in Kyiv where the first case was identified. Later, on 15-17th March Ukraine Government took steps and shut down everything except superstores and pharmacies.
But, here in Kharkiv city, still, people were taking everything slowly, in fact, we went outside with the mask, done grocery shopping and official work.
Let me share some pictures with you...
I have taken these pictures last week when I was at the regional Tax office. Well, public transportation was off but private cars were allowed and people were walking around.
Well, Government announced that we should stay at home to be safe but didn't take hard actions until yesterday. Well, I miss this environment, to be honest. Staying at home kinda frustrating if you live in a small apartment alone. You want to go outside, want to inhale the fresh air, want to lead a normal life...
Still now in Kharkiv, only one case has been identified, most cases were found in Kyiv, Chernivist region and Ternopil region. The population is dense there and I guess many tourists or people came there from Europe before lockdown.
Now the entire area looks like no one lives there or something happened here. It became a silent quiet city all of a sudden. A lively city became a dead city suddenly.
Children used to play here every afternoon and nowhere some birds can be seen. it's so empty.
The total number of infected cases stands at 1462 and the number of death is 45. Now we are completely lockdown, we can't go out, not even for a small walk. We have to stay at home, no more movement.
From yesterday police were all over the city, fining people for not maintaining the rules (for not wearing masks / not maintaining social distances). I know this pandemic disease is spreading globally and this is a challenge for the world.
Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Ukraine, a whole bunch of problems in the healthcare system has been exposed: the infectious diseases departments in hospitals are not ready to receive a large number of patients, the country has a critically low number of ventilators, and doctors and other medical workers themselves lack basic personal protective gear – suits, gloves, and masks. Ukrainian businesses are actively joining in solving the problem. The Delovaya Stolitsa online newspaper has analyzed open sources and found out how much large business representatives have spent on fighting the coronavirus.source.
I think this is a challenge for everything, we should help each other, work on our mental and health situations and stay positive...
