Day 35 of 100 Days of Erotic Comics [and Time Management Blog]

I spent some time preparing Alice for her Trial with the Queen of Hearts. Process Video Included.

The video above is quite a bit longer than usual, because I assembled the video over three days or so of work.

I loaded myself up with a ton of additional tasks, and increased the amount of expectations for my project output at the same time, and was unable to meet those goals. So, I would say that it's been a useful lesson in eliminating excess tasks, and then focusing energy on a single project.

It's made for a few days of ugly pages in the planner:

[Tasks I will not be doing:]

  • Submission of Round 2 to the Marketing DAO -- I was accepted to re-apply and share a compelling marketing project proposal and it would have required more time than I have.
  • File Taxes right now.
  • Promote Newly Minted Memes on Memefactory -- would have been nice to put them all together in opensea, and then promote them.
  • DMV Appointment - My license expired.
  • Utilize health insurance for Counseling, Dental, and Health Checkups.
  • Send my Grandma a Letter
  • Contact multiple Debtors to settle

I'll just ignore and dismiss them and then check in with myself on these things at the end of Feb.

Some things -- Like the Marketing DAO proposal -- is great, but I don't have the time / energy to do that right now, so I sent a letter, shared the idea with them in its raw form, and asked them to make a point of contact with me so I could follow up in August after this project.

The rest can wait.

The critical components of my project need to be my sole focus for the remainder of the month.

Sometimes I tell myself I'm going to "do a bunch of stuff" and it doesn't work out, and there's a feeling of being overwhelmed.

.:.

Some solutions I've found here are as follows:

  1. 80/20 Rule -- Allow small problems to exist, and focus on significant issues.
  2. Focus only one a limited number of significant issues each day.
  3. Actually using Steemit Posts as a way to puctuate each day's work is a really useful practice.
  4. Don't get down on yourself about it -- Just cross it out, put a note to yourself, and then move on with the essentials until you've reached the goal that you're working toward.
  5. Lower your goal expectations to a minimal viable product.

If you're interested in these sorts of things, and would like to do additional research for your project, I'd encourage you to check out Seth Godin - The Dip.

Take away -- I'm actually happy with the work that I've done, and I'm also glad that this little lapse only lasted a few days. I've been my own boss for a few years now, and I've needed to go through this on a regular basis over the years.

It's really useful to focus on the takeaway being the honorable execution of the work that has actually been accomplished during those days, and to allow the little emergencies to just drift off.
