As the world is going through this unprecedented disaster, I can't help but feel for all those people who are suffering out there. Hundreds of thousands have been infected and thousands have lost their lives.

This has affected so many more as their families struggle with the gravity of the situation. This has also had some really devastating effects on the markets, be it the stock market or crypto.

All of this has had a huge impact on me as well. I find myself refreshing my social media feed again and again and googling the latest information. It sure is tough times for all of us.

Something dawned on me today though. It is these tough times that will also be our greatest teacher and show us the way forward. It will make us stronger and wiser and we will get out of this much powerful than before.

Forged In Fire

Nobody likes going through rough patches. Everybody wants to remain blissful and at the top where it is all comfortable. However, life is not like that. It drags us down and through the mud to teach us vital lessons. This happens on an individual level as well as collectively.

We always think that we know better. We have this perennial assumption that we can deal with any situation when and if it arrives. When it finally arrives, however, we find ourselves scrambling. This is because we simply don't have the knowledge or the wisdom to deal with the 'stranger than fiction' situations.

But here's the thing. The more we go through these strange and varied situations, the more we learn, the more we become equipped to face the next one and the more we cultivate a level of emotional maturity that is one of the first things we require.

We never truly become perfect at it but we certainly can reach a level where difficulties do not faze us anymore. And that is the place we should aspire to be at.
