My aunt (who is 96) likes to tell this story about when she first moved to Michigan from down south. She said she was outside and took one of her chicken and was showing her neighbor how they slaughter them to eat. She took hold of the chicken by the neck, swung it around and broke it's neck, (I guess there's a technique to it as she's telling the story she mimic's the moments), then she chops the head off and hung it upside down on a line until it stops fledgling around and the blood drains. The woman was so appalled she went home and called the sheriff on my aunt. The sheriff came out and ended up telling the lady that that's just how the folks from the back woods do it.
