Like a rock

Finland is now officially on lock-down mode. As I said when buying the house a few weeks ago about being prepared for worst case scenario, this is about it - but.... fuck it. Life goes on.

IMG_20200316_172334.jpg

Worst case scenarios and the continuance of life is something that I have often enough considered as I don't expect my own body to carry me too far through this particular life, although I don't plan on speeding up the process too much intentionally - it has just seen too much illness from a young age to leave it in god enough condition.

IMG_20200316_172447.jpg

How I see my investments of late is "it's only money" and while I am acutely aware of what not having money and carrying debt means, I also understand enough that at the end of the day, life is quite meaningless - other than the meaning we give it. I and my family might end up destitute, but even under those conditions, I do not believe I will be trapped that way - nor do I believe that I wouldn't end up in a position where I couldn't provide for the real needs of my daughter.

These photos were taken as she and I walked for an hour or two today. It is hard for a three year old to be stuck at home with boring parents that have to work - but damn I was amazed at how well she took day one. Considering she doesn't have any screen time, she is bloody good at keeping herself amused. What is going to be terrible is that her grandparents are effectively quarantined and stuck in their home due to the risks of their age for at least a month - and she was really looking forward to seeing them tomorrow for a walk. They are very close, and they haven't gone a month without seeing her since she was born.

I can already feel myself going a little stir crazy at just the thought of being trapped with very little social interaction. Luckily I will have Steem as an outlet.... Hive? I don't mind hive at all to be honest, as I have commonly referred to Steem as a hive and used bees often as a metaphor.

This was from a week or two ago, when writing that money can buy many things, but it can't buy a community.

Remember that part of the Steem code is called Hivemind and without a centralized leader, the Steem blockchain is the queen bee. Poke the nest, the worker bees will protect their home under royal decree.

I went on to add:

Because everyone is bound to the same blockchain, the decentralized structure of Steem means that there is not just one hive, there are many, but they are all interconnected and activated in unison - much like pulling on the thread of a spider's web will send a signal across the entire network.

But I am guessing calling the new chain "The spider" is off the cards.

IMG_20200316_172535.jpg

These rocks remind me of Justin Sun's investment in Steem. First frozen, now waiting to be dropped to the bottom of the lake at the thaw. It is a pity, because if he had played his cards right, this place and his investment could have actually been worth something significant.

Well, whatever happens, I really hope that the Steem community can transition and at least for some modicum of time, work together to become a strong and truly decentralized community. What I am expecting is a lot of the same people doing what they can to extract value though. Kingscrown is probably already dropping links and lines in chat trying to shore up support.

IMG_20200316_172704.jpg

It is going to be interesting however as essentially there is going to be a lot of resets when it comes to the automation, and I wonder how many will choose to support the same contributors. This is good and bad of course, but does create opportunities that some didn't have before. Though, still gotta do the consistent grind, something many haven't been able to successfully do on Steem, so I am not expecting them to do it anywhere else.

For quite a few years there have been those saying that if only they were here at the start, and now they get that opportunity - except with a somewhat better set of conditions - on average. Early on, if one was able to get the support from the handful of accounts that had SP, things were good to the tune of hundreds of thousands of Steem rewards. That won't be the case under a chain with better distribution, however, it will make it easier for accounts to get something, which will distribute the chain further.

I do not know what @blocktrades and the other developers and witnesses have in mind for the new chain, but I hope that lessons have been learned from the last four years and we can get off to a flying start. What is going to be possible to leverage out of all of this volatility is, the marketing hype that the Steem community will have successfully protected itself from a predator looking to own the lives of the free.

When you attack an invested community, you're always on thin ice.

Amazing pictures!!! 😍

For the hardfork part, let's see... tomorrow there will be the official anouncement with more details.

Cheers. Yeah it is going to be an interesting few months ahead on so many fronts.

Gotta love the timing ay.

Sounds like there's something else I need to catch up with (I'm only somewhat staying on top of things at the moment, there's so much happening everywhere x_x)

Yep, when it rains it pours. :/

Sounds like bad timing to me, with the house purchace. I suspect the realeste market will fall rapidly as people are getting squeezed to service the debts.

yep, not much we could have done to predict the timing of this though.

I already have hive book marked, if it is the right one, I guess I will know tomorrow or soon if it is. If you don't have veggie seeds yet for a garden, you should think of a few maybe, radishes don't take long to grow, and there are other quick crops, one advantage of a house is a yard to grow things verses an apartment with only a balcony.

Somehow or another things have a tendency to return to an almost normal state. The great depression 100 years ago,(1929-1934), people were hurting, people were hungry, but some how things turned around.

Spanish Flu" or "La Grippe" the influenza of 1918-1919 was a global disaster. That was from Wikipedia, one year, 50,000,000 died by estimates, the world recovered enough to have great depression 10 years later. Will we see a death toll like that from this flu (covid-19), my gut feeling is no. We have much better hygiene than 100 years ago.

We are likely to see more riots, more violence especially in place that are prone to riots like France and the U.S. I am not sure if other countries have major riots, I do recall a couple times stories of riots in Poland a long time ago, of riots in London England and in Germany. So states where tempers flare easy, more are likely to be hurt world wide in the riots than get killed by the virus.

I would not stress over the recent move and purchase, it will do you no good, nor your family. It was the right thing to do at the right time and things will work out. When I left Alaska, I really did not want to come back, I really do not like the cold weather. It felt like it was a mistake, but it worked out. Much better health care availability here than where I did live in Calif. No six month wait to see a doctor up here. Now with the world stress going on and the over controlling of people and Calif. being one of the larger police states and restricting people, we are in the right community for this disaster.

Things have a way of working themselves out, there is always something to look back on and say, this was a bad move, but there is a lot more to look forward to and say this is the right move. We always question our own actions, if it doesn't sit right with the gut we usually don't do it, it is when we ignore our instincts that things get real dicey.

Yep, the plan is to get a little garden going, at least to teach my daughter where food comes from.

Things will always return, or even get better, but at the moment, the timing of all of this that is ongoing couldn't be worse for us. I don't mind the struggle, but I was hoping for a little bit better for the family. I can reframe it as "character building" :D

I don't worry much about the virus at all, but I know that if anyone close does succumb, I will deal with it better than others. I guess there are pros and cons to that.

I have never lived anywhere the healthcare system is really terrible, and gladly so. I have no idea why the richest country on earth can't afford even close to what much of the world has been doing for decades.

Hi @tarazkp
Sorry to hear about the lockdown 😐
But glad your parents are still live and well, plus they are safe.

We are encouraging FaceTime calls here!
It actually can mean more actual time spent together and less time traveling!

Your daughter sounds like she is taking it like a champ! In my experience, Children are much more flexible then Adults.
To me, as long as the Adults stay calm and loving, the kids seem to do fine. If your fine, their fine, if you lose it, they lose it. 💪😊

Take Care,
✍️

My in-laws, so I am okay either way ;D

They only live about a kilometre away from us, so normally we see them a couple times a week.

It was interesting on MS Teams today, as the application seemed to struggle a lot as I am guessing everyone around the world is having meetings from home.

Hope you are well there. :)

Everything thing will be fine in few days insha Allah may Allah protect us all from coronavirus

This is something I have never understood. If there was a god, why would it protect us from its own creation?

Because he is over creator and ultimate protector

So, why make a deadly virus?

For testing us how we react on this

That's utter sheeple bullshit to support such reasoning. But to each their own.

I think You should respect your creator (Allah) and don't use these type of words for him

Only humans can become tyrant and sadist because God created them in that way

God (Allah) is merciful and kind he is owner and creator of each and everything ,we should fear from him if we are not able to understand anything we should read and search for it

Read Quran or English translation of Quran at least once and you will understand everything

If your boss punished you due to any reason its doesn't mean he is tyrant and sadist may be you did something wrong or you deserved it,Or may be it's just a test and trial for you

I am sure you can't use words tyrant and sadist in front of your boss or owner how can you use these words for your creator (God) the king of kings

From my view, god is a non-event, non-existent. You can have your beliefs. Don't try to force them onto others.

Lovely photos. This global pandemic and economic fallout is hitting us all. I'm in South Africa and have run out of income. Work has ground to a halt. Schools are shut down. No money left in the bank, no income, no virus anywhere in my town, but still I'm hit hard by the economic fallout. And this is just the beginning. The riots and looting are still to start.

Those photographs are amazing! :-)
