Mac Baren Misadventures

Among all the media for consuming nicotine, piping always had a special place in my heart. I started piping two years ago. My friend who was also a heavy smoker of cigarettes convinced me to try pipe tobacco. At first, piping seemed unsatisfying for me as pipe tobacco should not be inhaled. The idea of not inhaling the smoke made me think that piping is just something to make the user look cool.

My first and only pipe is a 1950s corn cob. Corn cob pipes are among the cheapest and easiest to use which is why it is recommended for beginners. The first tobacco I bought is an aromatic type of pipe tobacco. It was cherry flavored with hints of rum. My friend recommended that I use aromatics first because it is most appealing to beginners. Still doubtful, I lighted my first bowl after watching a ton of tutorials. The smoke kept dying on me until I finally learned how to properly use it and then it hit me; The nicotine high was out of this world. When I use cigarettes or vape mods, the nicotine buzz makes my head ache. However, the hit from pipe tobacco was very relaxing. I felt significantly relaxed and my face felt as if it was melting from relaxation. Some minutes later, I was already resting the back of my head on the wall because the feeling was overwhelming as if I am high. What I liked most about the nicotine buzz from piping is that I never craved like an addict for it. After I smoked my first bowl, I understood why most people smoke pipes for a hobby. The feeling was never addictive. Unlike smoking cigarettes, you cannot rush pipe smoking. It took me about thirty minutes to finish the entire bowl.

As I have told in my previous post, I am quitting all forms of nicotine consumption. However, I might still smoke a pipe every once in a while. Cheers!
