Coronavirus Up 3x In A Week - Travelgirl Have Started Her Emergency Stockpile

Hi Everyone,

Coronavirus is finally here in Sydney - fast and quick. A mummy WhatsApp group was at full swing last night as a school kid who got tested positive is close to where we live. Not only that, today the north of Sydney has been indicated the epicenter of the virus. If you have been following me for some time, I live up north so that is literally my patch. The areas that are affected are literally 15 minutes away from my home .... close enough right? What is scary is the number of people infected has increased 3x this week. @quochuy also is pretty close to where I am so he probably knows what I am talking about here.

What is worrying is that it has gone to school. This student will be out to sporting events for clubs, tutoring classes, excursions etc so it will be interesting how this will turn out. I haven't been stockpiling anything at home if you have been reading my post this past week. I have tried to get the necessities but every single shop I go to have sold out on everything! Today before an important appointment, I quickly dropped by the local supermarket at 9am to get what I need. Luckily I was there a little earlier to get most things I wanted except for rice. It literally sold out when I stepped in. I ended up getting short-grain rice from the Japanese grocer downstairs. I spent an extra $100 to get the additional food on top of my weekly shop so now I feel like I am in a more comfortable place. Please keep in mind this is all I have and a bit of pasta to use if anything happens in Sydney. For those who are reading, I only bought what I need, I did not become a crazy woman and started clearing the shelves. Our community is great and most have been fair with what they have bought.

Just a side note. Pasta was absolutely sold out so I had to resort to getting some rice noodles at $2 a pack and stock up at the Japanese grocery instead. Not cheap but better than having no spare food at home. At least now I can relax a bit not worrying about running out of food. I probably need to start a small stockpile batch after this whole virus passes so if there are any emergencies in the future, I am better prepared.
