Uganda is the Pearl of Africa indeed as Winston Churchill called it because of its beauty and life that flows out of it🥰.Did you know that it is becoming a hotspot for various tourism destinationswith it's various national parks?😍. I love the beautiful sceneries, the rich foods from the different cultures, the African dress code from the various tribes like the bark cloth from the baganda, the busuutis from the Bantu.I just love the beauty and pomp that comes along with Uganda being the Pearl of Africa .

The most exciting place I have been to in my country Uganda

I would say I have not travelled much in Uganda however, I have been to a few places😊.
In my many years of stay in Gulu district, I only knew we had restaurants, supermarkets, but I did not know we had beautiful sceneries like the one I was told about.

At the beginning of this year , I was feeling quite sick, my husband just walked up to me and asked me to prepare because we are going to a place called Kweyo Recreation Centre. This tickled my fancy, I kept thinking, were have my ears been all this while, how come no one had ever told me about this? Any way, I labored to put myself in order, dressed the children and off we went.

We drove off, a few kilometers away from Gulu town, reaching a place called Koch and we branched off on our left. Beautiful place it was, quite ,it seemed like we were the first customers to reach the place. We were warmly welcomed by one lady whose eyes were beaming with smiles🥰.
At the entrance, we were asked to wash hand with water and soap because of the Corona Virus.

This beautiful piece of art at the hand washing point could not go unnoticed.

We were welcomed by a cool breeze from the lake, wow! This is a manmade lake I was told. It seemed so calm and the waters were still, one could hear the birds singing songs of praise from a far.

This was the most interesting bit, the tour guides took us on a tour to their “game park”. We saw beautiful sculptures for the different animals, artistic impressions of the like

hippopotamus, lion, Snake, baboon and so many others were carved out so beautifully that one could think they were real animals. In fact, that was the thought process of some of the children we had gone with, they were too scared to even touch them😂😂.

Now, the children wanted to go boat rowing, I couldn’t stand this☹ .I fear water so I told my husband, there is no way I am letting them go to the lake. After they insisted, I let my guard down , and off they went. They were very excited, I thought they would chicken out like I did, but they seemed so confident and prepared for what they were going for.

They actually enjoyed the boat rowing,I was so relieved that they came back safe😌.

After we were done, we had a few drinks and we drove back home.It was such a beautiful moment that I will never forget, in fact when i go back to Gulu, i will surely visit again .

Thank you so much.

Glad to learn of Kweyo Recreation Center for the very first time. It's indeed an exciting place that you have been to with your entire family. It's good to have such family trips to cool and fan places. Very refreshing and keeps the family more fan and united. Hehe...the fear for waters. You just need to learn to confront your fears. I am glad you finally allowed the children to enjoy the boat ride.

Thanks for taking part in the contest. I wish you all the best.

Gulu is beautiful. I also fear water, but not so much as the dark lol. I am petrified by being alone in a dark place. Your children are beautiful!
