Hello steemians!!!...Hope you are doing well.
I wanted to share something on the traditional wedding dress. There is definitely a story that exists before the traditional wedding dress was thought of.
In the African setting to be particular the central of Uganda, when a couple starts courting, there comes a time when they have to take things to the next level as their relationship and intimacy continues to grow.
To the ladies, for a guy that intends to put a ring on your finger, there will come a time when he asks to meet your parents.
Traditionally, this kind of process towards marriage was overseen by a girl’s marital auntie (senga), although a few contemporary couples have deviated from the norms. In the past and in good order, the girl introduced her boyfriend to her auntie who later helped her smooth the way before breaking the news to her parents.
A ceremony would be achieved, where the man and his few relatives visit the home of the girl to negotiate bride price. The team of the man would visit with a few gifts to the parents of the girl and this is locally known as ‘kukyala’.
I was privileged to tailor the traditional wedding dress of a client of mine, a bride to be. She was yet to have her kukyala ceremony. This dress was sophisticated in a way because it was fused with both an African touch and some western touch. To be particular I used some Kitengi, American satin, glitter and a veil.
The cut pieces were cut from Kitengi with details of glitter and placed on satin which is white.
The veil had to complete the gown.
This was fitting day...the bride to be was definitely happy!!
And this was her kukyala day🥰.
Thank you for following!!
Ohh wow, the dress is amazingly beautiful. The bride looked so beautiful in it.
