ABOUT MY 1ST JAN 😍😍

Yesterday, by God's grace, we were urshed into the new year 2022. In my family, and we have a tradition where by family members, friends and neighbors come home on new year and celebrate together. This tradition had been eroded by covid but thankfully, this year it was brought back. The cardinal rule however, was that everyone puts on a mask. It was no joke...we were in masks from morning to evening.

The day started with tents being put up in the compound and the tables were well set. It looked beautiful.

After that we had to do some cleaning. We were expecting over 80 guests so we hired the services of mobile cooks. As they were cooking, we did the rest of the work that was available. Cleaning ended and so we set the serving tables.

By the time everything was done, guests had started arriving. This was around 2 in the afternoon. Everything was set and we were just waiting for a few key people before we could serve and so we decided to take some pictures.

Everything looked yummy but what caught my eye most was the salads. They looked so lovely. The cooks cut the cabbage using a grader and so the cabbage appeared like mushed rice.

The mattoke was well placed and ready to be served. When they called us to take our places at the serving point, I was very quick to avoid the mattoke😂😂 and so did my sisters.

We took our places as the guests prayed for the food. I decided to serve the meat because I knew for sure that it would attract clients🤣🤣.

We served everyone and we were done by 5pm. We then collected the plates as we prepared to wash them.

The plates were so many but we managed to wash them all. From there, the party began. The guests were served alcohol and wines plus roasted meat and pork. The party went on till late. People ended up sleeping at 5am.

My baby sister got tired of the masks and decided to put them on her forehead😅😅😅 As you can see in the picture below, she was not happy about the whole mask thing🤣.

It was a long day but it was fun. I hope you enjoyed your first Jan too.
