Affliction is for all people. We all go through suffering at some point. Those who walk with Christ go through suffering and those who don't go with God go through affliction. It is not that suffering was set aside for a certain group of people, suffering is for all of us.
Even as christians, the e go through hard times. it is not because God doesn't love us but it is because the devil who came to steal, desive and destroy is there Fighting against us to waiver our faith in the Lord. "If you don't go through affliction as a Christian, you need to question your Christianity".
The book of Lamentations talks about the suffering of the nation of Israel because of their sin.
It talks about how God brings out His iron hand and He manifests His anger. Jerusalem goes into ruins and the Israelites cry out in sorrow and in pain.
We tend to do things that are sinful and we don't even take time off to repent. We take God's love for granted and we forget that we need to go down on our knees and beg for forgiveness.
Sin is pleasurable but it gives us temporary comfort and everlasting pain. You can engage in a sin that will give you pleasure for a few minutes but the pain you get from it will last a lifetime.
Affliction is not the end...it is a means. God allows suffering so that His children can realize that they have sinned and they come repent and their way back to Him.
When all is said and done, we have to come back to the Lord. No matter how ashamed you are, God is not ashamed of you so long as you come back to Him and repent your sins. There is only one mediator between us and God and that is Jesus Christ. The scripture says that "No one can come to the father except through Me". He says that there are many rooms in His father's house and so He calls us back home.
If anything can be tampered with, let it not be your faith in God.
I pray that today is the day that you come back to the Lord.
