Churches are places of worship for Christians. They are spread out all over Uganda but there are those churches that so prominent and are known by most people.
Namirembe Cathedral
This church is really old as it came into existence in 1890 however the construction was completed in 1919. Before the current cathedral was built, there was a church built at the base of the Namirembe hill however it was in a swamp and was small thus building a bigger church on the Namirembe hill. It is located in Lubaga Division and attracts many anglicans for prayers both on Sundays and special days like Christmas and Easter. This Church is also known for its organ which produces such beautiful music.
All Saints Cathedral.
This church is also an Anglican diocese located in the heart of Kampala in Nakasero. This church is more accessible for people that live areas in near the main town of Kampala. This church underwent renovation recently. This church is headed by Reverend Canon Dr. Rebecca Nyengeye who is a lady Reverend, I think she is the First Lady Reverend in Uganda who has contributed so much to her society and inspired many both the young and the old.
Baha’i Temple.
This temple is used by people of the Baha’i faith who have increased tremendously overtime in Uganda. This temple is beautiful and surrounded by such a beautiful compound that is enormous and attracts both worshippers of the faith and also ordinary people that just want to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. People even go ahead to take photography shots for weddings and other functions in those gardens.
Gadaffi Mosque
Gadaffi mosque was built by the late Gadaffi and it stands tall on the old Kampala hill and is bathed in such beauty and glory with beautiful dome shapes on top bathed in a beautiful color that is shiny copper. This mosque is visited by both Muslims on their prayer days and other people that want to tour the place and enjoy its beauty. However, one has to note that it is built near the road and the area is basically in a busy area.
Christ the King.
Christ the King church is located in the heart of Kampala town and is a place of worship mainly for those of the Catholic faith. This church was quite small though renovations have been going on to make it bigger. This church normally carries about four masses on Sunday and two masses on other weekdays.
There are many other prominent places in Uganda so feel free to mention some in the comment section.
