VIDEO CONFERENCING APPS.

Video conferencing applications are those applications that have enabled physical meetings to actually turn virtual. These applications are normally both in website form and in the apps form. The examples include; zoom, Microsoft teams, Google meet among others. There are many more springing up.

These applications gained a lot of popularity during the lockdown when people were not allowed to move and interact with other physically. The app that really hit it off was Zoom as most people were using it for both school and work meetings. Zoom had been around for a while since 2016 however many users got to know about it in 2020.

Zoom was free though this free version had a limit of the number of people who could be hosted and also the limit of the meeting to 40 minutes and one had to start a new meeting. It also has the paid version which hosts more people and meetings can go on for a long while. However, since it was the first of its kind, other similar apps that came after it modified it and worked on the limitations.

Microsoft teams was one of them, this hosts a large number of people for lengthy periods. It also has a free and paid version however one would say it hosts more numbers than zoom. One of the glitches though with Microsoft Teams is that it consumes more data and if the network is bad chances are that some people are going to miss out. One can also say that it is more technical than Zoom and it may need one to study it to use it better.

Well, Google meet I think is the least used however I stand to be corrected. It is user friendly and the fact that it is joined to gmail and all the other Google products makes it easy to set up a meeting and have it saved in one’s Google calendar. It also has the chat option just like zoom and Microsoft teams. All these platforms have their pros and cons of though one would choose what they prefer basing on their needs.

When choosing video conferencing equipment for a small meeting room, prioritize ease of use, high-quality video, and reliable audio. Look for systems with a wide-angle camera, as it can capture everyone in the room, and a microphone array that picks up clear sound without needing everyone to lean in video conferencing equipment offers a range of solutions that are optimized for different room sizes, so you can find something that fits perfectly without overpaying for unnecessary features. Consider compact systems with simple plug-and-play functionality so that anyone can start a meeting with minimal setup.
