Introducing myself to Steemit.. Again

in hive-175065 •  3 years ago

Hello everyone. My name is Wandawa Christine. Am a Ugandan originating from the eastern part of the country. Professionally am a social worker although my last job involved more of accounting. So I guess am an accountant too. Am a passionate farmer too. Having been raised by parents who are farmers doing largescale farming. This post is just for reintroducing myself as I've taken a very long time away from steemit.

My experience with steemit dates way back, 3 years to be specific. I joined steemit through a friend who told us about digital money, something really new in my ears. As a way of persuading us to join, he explained the massive amount of money he would withdraw every week from working from home. That alone was enough to convince me to join since I was a student and financially I was not doing well. I had bills to pay and I needed some money to take care of myself yet I had no source of income.

Life as a student can get really hard here in Uganda especially when your coming from a poor family background. It’s hard to get into good schools since the tuition is too high to afford. And when the parents manage to overcome all the financial obstacles to get you into a good school, they can’t do much to cater for your wellbeing while there. So now you are forced to really cut your cost of living inorder to complete school. There is no room for complaining, they have already done much to get you into school.

So steemit came in and bailed me out. I must have been the most delighted person on steemit at the time. My life transformed drastically. I started living the life I dreamt of, wearing brand new clothes, shoes, working on myself to look as good as the well-to-do students. I didn't need to call my family to foot my bills anymore. This indeed was a dream for many students at university and I have to admit, I had given up on living it.

I consistently wrote posts almost daily while engaging with various users through exchanging comments on the posts. This pushed me to learn different ways of life in various countries. I have to admit I was having the fun of my life. I was working yet having fun as well. This exciting journey went on for more than a year until I graduated from university.

After that I got a job and felt it's time for me to experience life at a workplace as I look forward to build my CV. My time on steemit started reducing gradually until I totally stopped writing.

But now with the pandemic coming in and restrictions going on in many sectors of the economy, I can now spare sometime away from work. Currently where am working social distancing is key So they cut the capacity of staff who are supposed to report daily, leaving me with 3 days in a week to work.

Am excited to be back on steemit. I've already noticed many changes that have happened on the platform since I left. There are communities which were not there before and I've subscribed to some of them. I can't tell how proud I am for our very own @yohan2on, the country representative for Uganda, who has really represented Uganda so well. We really appreciate him for raising the flag so high for Uganda.
