Hello,

Dear friends on steemit, am so humbled to be with you again and to also share with you some important information about road accidents mostly during these festive days that we are entering soon.

Statistics show that at least 3500 people die in accidents every year in Uganda!!

Following the 2020 Annual Traffic Report presented by the Directorate of traffic and road safety in Uganda, the Kampala Traffic Commander ASP Rogers Nsereko reported that at least there was a reduction of 4.7% of traffic accidents reported in 2020 from 12.858 in 2019 to 12.249.

Several measures have implemented to stop or decrease on the number of road accidents in Uganda. 👇 👇

Ie: sensitizing, cautioning and warning of road users.

In the photos above, the injured is an OB and friend of mine called Odyeke Christopher working as a senior staff surveyor of Kikuube district. He got an accident a couple of weeks ago and I was able to meet with him on Monday before I went to Gulu District

Though in a deep pain, he was able was able to share me how this accident happened!!

"All this pain that am going through is am totally responsible for it, Yes it God who protects us but we also have to play our party and then leave the rest unto him, I was driving without having my Seat belt on!!, Moreover I was over speeding, so when I tried to overtake another car, I terribly lost control and went through the window screen of my car, the car then came and landed on my leg. I only thank God that am still alive even though am going through this pain, if I had my seat belt On, it with the airbags would have helped me 😭😭😭"

This is my friend's story!!

At all costs he takes the blame on himself, for not wearing his seat belt and also over speeding!! He's wondering if he will regain his strength and go back to his work and even his upcoming introduction party in December this year.

So friends, me and you can play our best part in reducing on the number of road accidents.

  1. Let's be vigilant and report any violation of traffic rules to the authorities.

  2. Lets put on our seat belts whenever driving or traveling, and for bike users let's wear reflector jackets and helmets.

  3. Vehicles in a dangerous mechanical condition should be voided.

  4. Follow the speed limit.

Actually use the road as if all other road users are of your family

In case of any Road accident help to inform the Red Cross quick response team on a toll free line 0800211088. The team will quickly respond and take necessary actions.

If we all follow these, road accidents will be limited in numbers.
